There was Dovima and Suzy Parker in the 1950's, Twiggy and Veruscha in the 1960's. She certainly was one of the first exotics though, not just in looks but with a combustible feral energy unusual for 'highly behaved' model images. My grandmother was French and subscribed to native magazines including French ELLE. That was the only one then. I remember first seeing Janice Dickenson in those magazines. She was different, embodying a different kind of female archetype. She had an incredible wild, free, joyful energy that stood out. She was usually in motion, running, leaping. Actually, the band of models we called 'the supermodels' were not nearly as ramped up feral females as their predecessors like Janice, Iman, and the glorious Jerry Hall.
