Philadelphia, the city of 1.5 million people just got some bad news. “America’s Favorite Cities” survey found Philly to be deficient in multiple categories.

60,000 respondents were asked to rank 25 cities in various categories: shopping, food, cityscapes, style, activity, friendliness, worldliness and attractiveness. Travel and Leisure magazine and CNN Headline News initiated the polling of people from across the nation.

Poor old Philly took the bottom spot in the attractiveness category – followed closely by Washington DC and Dallas/Forth Worth. If you are from Miami or San Diego you can rest easy. You, my friends, are among the most attractive.

To add insult to injury, Philadelphia ranked among the least stylish, least active, least friendly and least worldly. The citizens of this fair city could start to get a complex. A previous poll showed the city to be among the fattest in the United States. To add further to Philly’s woes, their professional sports teams haven’t won a national championship since 1983.

It just doesn’t seem fair that The City of Brotherly Love should be treated so badly. I’m sure that wasn’t what Philly’s founding father, William Penn had in mind for his beloved city. After all, it was the original home of our nations capitol prior to its relocation to Washington DC.

I’m starting to see a pattern here. Didn’t we say earlier that DC landed a close second to Philly in the ugly category?
