National Enquirer broke the news that Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer and Swayze’s physician was quick to respond that his condition is not as grave as the tabloid made it out to be.

However, the reality remains that most pancreatic cancer patients die in 3-9 months after diagnosis, and only 4% live five years. This is the same cancer that took Michael Landon’s life in 1991, 3 months after he held a press conference to tell the public about his battle with the disease.

I certainly hope Patrick beats the odds.
