Strange Phoenix Lights in Night Sky: FAA Puzzled (Photos,Video)
The good citizens of Phoenix spotted strange red lights over the city on Monday evening. Arizona Republic reporter Anne Ryman, who lives in Deer Valley, reported seeing four lights in a square shape that eventually became a triangular shape. The lights were moving to the east and they disappeared one by one. She said the lights were visible for about 13 minutes at about 8 p.m..
A north Phoenix resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said he saw four or five red lights lined up in a straight line and spaced apart evenly. The lights slowly moved east and became dimmer as the witness watched. He said the last light remained in the sky the longest. Then three jets came from the west and traveled in the direction of the red lights.
Luke Air Force Base stated that they did not have any aircraft in the sky Monday night and that the lights were not part of any Air Force activities. Deer Valley airport officials said that the lights were not from any aircraft at that airport.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command is responsible for monitoring the skies for security threats. FAA spokesman, Ian Gregor indicates that they do not know where the lights came from and will not be investigating. He gave a five word quote: “There’s nothing to look into.” Gregor did acknowledged that air traffic controllers at Sky Harbor Airport also witnessed the lights, but they do not know the cause.
According to NBC evening news Tuesday, there was a similar sighting in St. Augustine, Florida on Saturday night.
Phoenix residents may remember that on March 13, 1997, thousands of residents reported a mile wide, v shaped formation of lights over the Valley. The phenomenon lasted three hours and still remains a mystery.

04-jul-09- My family and I witnessed 3 red lights in the sky over El Cajon, CA on or between about 845-930 they seemed to flicker some what at times and remain solid at others they were in the shape of a triangle and were not planes, helocopters, or flares. they seemed to be moving very slowly and although they were not joined they moved as one. and began disapearing one by one about the time the fire works began.
Very strange how bright they were for seeming so distant. Red lights on plane don’t shine that bright, I know this because there were several planes and a helocoper out last night at the same time so it was easy to judge distances and intensity of the lights as well as comparing the differences. I don’t know what they were but I’m still sceptical, I just found it interesting that so many people post sightings of the same nature through the years… I dunno?
Between 9 and 10 pm sometime in the south a friend and I saw a strange blue/white light, that was sometimes constant and sometimes got brighter and then dimmer. We have no idea what it was, but there was only one, not multiple. It was in the sky on and off for about five minutes, anyone else see this???
At about 10:30 and 11:00pm, in slimbridge, bristol,my family and friends witnessed 1 floating light on its own, then another 5 came alone all in formation changing shape and then another 4 came floating along. They all floated off seeming to get dimmer or higher. But none of them made a sound.
please right me an e-mail if u could help me me and my freinds were outside then we noticed an orange light then it disappeard then it came again but at a different spot the we saw something white in the sky then it shined a light out under some horses then it just dissapeared it lasted like 5 seconds and made no noise then like 5 minutes later we heard this loud noise like something tummbling down a hill or something then we looked in the sky and saw a star but then we noticed it was moving in a medium paste if u can please send me an e-mail or something
