Star Trek Actor George Takei to Wed Partner Brad Altman
A second set of gay celebrities have announced their plans to wed, according to People magazine. George Takei, 71, of Star Trek fame announced on his website that he plans on marrying his companion of 21 years, Brad Altman. Their union is possible because the California Supreme Court has ruled in favor of same sex marriage.
Our California dream is reality. Brad Altman and I can now marry. We are overjoyed! At long last, the barrier to full marriage rights for same-sex couples has been torn down. We are equal with all citizens of our state!”
The actor, who kept his sexual preference private until 2005, is anxious to live the rest of his life as a marriage partner and couldn’t imagine being with anyone else. The men have yet to set a date but Takei also said:
For now, Brad and I are enjoying the delicious dilemma of deciding where, when, and how we will be married.”
The first celebrity couple to announce that they would take advantage of the court ruling were Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi . Congratulations to both couples. We wish you much happiness.

I’m really happy for gay couples in America right now. It’s about time someone overruled the evangelical fundies and let people ‘pursue happiness’ just like the constitution guarantees.
Congratulations and the best of luck to the both of you
I am sorry to read you felt obliged to keep your natural state of being hidden for so long.. (hmm, that sounds like a Star Trek episode
)
thank god, I was in jail with a southern baptist who, and i quote, said ” If we let gays marry, then we’ll have to let murderers murder, and rapists rape…” I almost shit my pants, if thats the logic behind the disbarment of a homosexual’s right to pursue his constitutional rights, then we’re f***ed. peace.
Put them all on a Island and go back in 100 years and see if it so “natural”………………bones all you will find is bones…………..
