The year was 1983 and the movie was Risky Business. Tom Cruise played a suburban Chicago teenager who is left home while his parents leave on a vacation. The most memorable scene in the movie has the actor rocking out in his underwear to the strains of Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger.

It has been 25 years since that scene was played out on movie screens. Last week on the finale of American Idol season seven, David Archuleta and David Cook reenacted that very scene for a Guitar Hero commercial. We’ve got the two video ads and have included Tom Cruise’s original Risky Business underwear scene.

David Cook told Larry King that shooting the ad was brutal on his knees. Apparently Cook had to jump off the coffee table and land on his knees multiple times before he got it right. Check out Achuleta, Cook and Cruise doing the underwear dance in the videos below.
