Rev. Jesse Jackson’s ‘Crude and Hurtful’ Barack Obama Comments (Video)
Rev. Jesse Jackson was caught making “crude and hurtful comments” about Barack Obama in an interview with a Fox News reporter on Sunday.
Unaware that his microphone was still on, Jackson was asked what he thought about Obama speaking in black churches, and at one point says he wants to “cut his n**s out.”
The Rev. issued a statement at a press conference in Chicago on Wednsesday:
For any harm or hurt that this hot mic private conversation may have caused, I apologize. My support for Senator Obama_s campaign is wide, deep and unequivocal. I cherish this redemptive and historical moment.
My appeal was for the moral content of his message to not only deal with the personal and moral responsibility of black males, but to deal with the collective moral responsibility of government and the public policy which would be a corrective action for the lack of good choices that often led to their irresponsibility.
That was the context of my private conversation and it does not reflect any disparagement on my part for the historic event in which we are involved or my pride in Senator Barack Obama, who is leading it, whom I have supported by crisscrossing this nation in every level of media and audience from the beginning in absolute terms.
Fox News will air the Jackson tape tonight on Bill O’Reilly’s show. As soon as there is a video available you can check back here to see the tape from The O’Reilly Factor.

I hope that Rev. Jackson isn’t upset because Obama’s presidential campaign got so much farther than his own. I would like to think that he’d have nothing but great things about him.
I guess that that the specified action would be alright if Reverend Jackson were to do the dirty deed on an altar. Personally, I share his feelings, but would recommend a more appropriate action. It’s obvious now that the American voter has a choice between twitty-dumb and twitty-do. I never thought that I would say this, but maybe McCain is the better choice as his limited intelligence would limit the harm that he can do.
I agree with Anton, however I fear that Reverend Jackson would find nothing to remove, on either candidate. There is no such thing as a statesman running for office today. Neither candidate offers anything of substance only platitudes in exchange for votes.
I have no respect for anyone raised an atheist and then happens to “find” god, something an educated atheist would never do.
He’s nothing more than another popularist demagogue trying to suck up to the religious. Look at how he’s dropped his previous promises and swung to the right since he stiched up the nomination.
I’m not surprised Jackson wants to cut his nuts out.
“I never thought that I would say this, but maybe McCain is the better choice as his limited intelligence would limit the harm that he can do.”
Because Bush’s limited intelligence DEFINITELY limited the harm HE did!
A woman got dragged out of a McCain speech just because her shirt equated Bush with McCain, but this jack ass can make a direct threat and nuthin…..
If you or I said that….that’s a tazen
what does the reverend have on his own other than furthering his cause. any person who can make a caustic comment as what he has done perhaps should not deserve any kind of publicity henceforth and already before.
obama is the likely president
…and the reverend, well, nothing to revere at the end.
Hi Anton, are you kidding me? Yes, George Bush was a good choice because his limited intelligence would limit the harm that he could do. Oh wait!!??
I never thought that I would say this, but maybe McCain is the better choice as his limited intelligence would limit the harm that he can do.
yeah, that really worked out in Bush’s case.
Once again Rev. Jackson has shown his class and eloquence. He has always been 2 faced and has continually crapped on his own race. He disgusts me.
@g.Anton
I have to disagree with you g. Anton, 8 years of having a person of “limited intelligence” in the white house has clearly shown exactly how much harm they are capable of. I think Obama is the better choice.
Wow Anton, you can not be serious. How can you possible reason that McCain may be a better choice because he is less intelligent? That’s like saying I want the dumbest surgeon to do my heart surgery because at least if he can’t do what he is supposed to do to fix the problem he won’t do anymore harm. The opposite is true. The LEAST qualified person for the job will not only be unable to do the job he is supposed to do but he will in fact cause the problems to grow and cause new problems that didn’t exist before. I think we can all agree that GW Bush is one of the dumbest presidents ever, if not the dumbest. Did he just sit back and ride out his term causing little harm or change? NO. He made bad decision after bad decision and has sent this country to one of its lowest points ever. Obama is far from being a perfect candidate but at least he has the ability and seemingly some desire to actually make some educated changes that may just turn this country back around. McCain on the other hand seems to think Bush has done a pretty good job and wishes to continue the same path and pile more bad decisions upon the mess we have now.
g.Anton wrote: “maybe McCain is the better choice as his limited intelligence would limit the harm that he can do.”
We’ve all seen how Bush’s lack of intelligence hasn’t at all limited the amount of damage he has been able to inflict on this country. Why would McCain’s limited intelligence be viewed as any less harmful?
I’m an independent and was hoping Obama would prove to be the change this country’s government desperately needs, but his recent votes seem to indicate he’s no different than any other politician.
We (African Americans) always find a way to exspose the ever present hole in our unity. We always forget that some of our issues should only spokrn of in the back room amongst ourselves. There should be a rigid adherence to the “back room practice” especially when it comes to our presumed leaders. Jesse Jackson, I would think would benefit from the history of his experience and so would never place his self in a position to make such a deliberate mistake in such an important national event. I think that now is a good time to put the “Back room practice ” in effect. I think the collective African American leadership should pull Jesse Jackson in the Back Room and counsel him. Then we could issue one agreed upon comment and then put this matter to rest.
Crap same goes for hypocritical too!
I WOULD LIKE TO THAT As a black man in america no black man should put down another black man no matter what. we as black men have come way fo far in this world alone to be putting down one another.
Maybe Jesse Jackson feels Barack Obama talks down to black people because he (Jesse) doesn’t understand what Barack is talking about and it makes him feel stupid.
I have never known a reverend who has made the inflamatory remarks Jesse has. We all would be a lot better off if he would quit trying to confuse us with his use of the english language. I’m sure he impresses himself but please “shut up”. He has no right to berate Obama. I would much rather listen to Barrack. You only see him get involved in things when he can push his opinions on us. No thanks Jesse.
Sorry to say… Obama should not be the first minority president. America can do better than to allow him the priv. Please dont vote because of skin color ppl. Obama speaks out of both sides of his mouth
Jesse Jackson….If this… what …you’re teaching in your church…I want to make sure that I will’nt, miss and attentend any of your service. ..I really never was a fan of you(jesse) but, I give you support…but, NOW I would never refur to you as a Reverend EVER AGAIN…
I can’t believe that a man who has been in the public eye for as many years as Mr.Jackson would use an excues like he didn’t know the mike was on. He was just speaking how he really feel. If he didn’t feel that way, that comment would never come out of his mouth. For a man who worked side by side with Dr. King should be ashamed of himself. How can he say he stand for non volience, when he wants to cut of a man nuts, the most volient act against any man
Speaking of Barack Obama:
Barack Obama is a racial-minority individual, and in his heart and mind he inevitably does not endorse hate crimes committed by George W. Bush.
George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).
George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.
And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.
Many people know what Bush did.
And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world.
Bush was absolute evil.
Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.
Bush is a psychological prisoner.
Bush has a lot to worry about.
Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.
In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memories so they never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.
