Also, I can't believe you forgot Massimo Troisi, who died shortly after finishing work on "Il Postino" (The Postman). Troisi was also nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for the film. Not quite in the same category, as the film was released just before his death, but Dean also was nominated for a posthumous Best Actor Oscar for East of Eden–the first in the Academy’s history.
