David Foster Wallace Suicide
David Foster Wallace was found dead by apparent suicide on Friday night around 9:30pm when his wife, Karen Green, returned home to find he had hanged himself in their Claremont, California home.
Foster, 46, gained significant national attention and critical praise in 1987 for his first novel “The Broom of the System.”
He became well known in 1996 for his second novel “Infinite Jest,” which Time Magazine included in its list of 100 Best English-language Novels.
In 2002, he moved to Claremont, California, to become the first Roy E. Disney Endowed Professor of Creative Writing and Professor of English at Pomona College. He taught one or two undergraduate courses per semester, and focused on his writing.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends.
