Jill Greenberg May be Sued for Doctored McCain Photos
The editor of The Atlantic Monthly said on Monday that he has already drafted a letter of apology to John McCain after photographer Jill Greenberg manipulated pictures from an Atlantic Monthly photo shoot and put them on her website. The self professed anti-Republican photog was hired by the magazine to shoot pics of the Republican presidential candidate for their October issue.
During the shoot several backlit poses were taken. After the shoot, Greenberg doctored them with oozing blood and added captions calling McCain a “bloodthirsty warmongerer” and penned anti-abortion references of “I will have my girl kill Roe v. Wade”. We’ve provided the link here but be prepared for some startlingly graphic depictions.
The editor, James Bennet, acknowledges that Greenberg crossed the line and will not be paid for the photo session. He said the the magazine’s editors don’t “vet our photographers for their politics” but are only interested in their track record. The publication is considering taking legal action against the woman. He said:
“She has violated the terms of our agreement with her so we’re taking steps to do something about that. This photographer has worked for everybody from Phillip Morris to Time magazine. She had a long record and no history of doing anything like what she has done here.”
The controversial Canadian has been the center of a previous firestorm in 2006 for a series of photos depicting crying children. She reportedly got them to cry by offering them candy and then taking it away. The finished close ups of the anguished children were featured in a gallery exhibition called End Times. Each toddler photo was captioned with a negative reference to the Bush administration, causing a public outcry.

This photographer has worked for everybody from Phillip Morris to Time magazine. She had a long record and no history of doing anything like what she has done here.
She’s a very sick woman. They should sue. She was paid to do a job to the best of her ability. She used her ‘talent’ as a weapon to destroy her sitter. Funny thing though, art is always a portrait of the artist in the end, so that image is more about Jill Greenberg than McCain. Fitting.
“No history of doing anything like she has done here…. ?” You clearly did not read to the end of the page, or you are in careful denial due to your politics.
You have no problem with how she terrorized and tormented small children into crying and screaming so she could take photographs she would use for her ‘End of Times’ project which was anti-Republican/anti-Bush. What if she’d done that to one of your children, hmmmmm?
‘Liberals’ like her are misnamed. They are totalitarian Marxist socialists, brutal and inhuman, for whom ‘the end justifies the means’ even if you torment little kids to make political propaganda pictures, or use the opportunity to photograph a candidate of the party you hate by savaging them like a white shark and seeking abscond with their image and sabotage it.
She very sneakily manipulated parents into entrusting their children to her care, asked them to step out and then drove the children to screaming distraction so she could get her shot. She does have a record.
This is a person who puts politics before people and before ethics. Her work and her amoral duplicitous methods show her mind and spirit. I don’t need to see her picture. The picture of McCain with the bloody mouth will suffice.
The news media sucks. read the article “2008: The year the media died”. That woman is horrible if the previous comments are true and should be sued/arrested.
