Survivor Crew Member Alton Desiree Drowns in Brazil

Survivor Tocantins - crew member drowns

Alton Desiree, a crew member of the reality show Survivor, has drowned in Brazil.

Desiree left his home in Loubiere, Dominica for Brazil on September 9th for his assignment on the reality series.

Although details are sketchy, Desiree had apparently been instructed to go underwater to fix something for the show.  When he didn’t resurface, another crew member went underwater to search for him.  When he could not be located, a female crew member from Australia telephoned Desiree’s wife Susa, to inform her that her husband was missing.

The woman called a second time about an hour and a half later to inform Susa that her husband had been found dead.

No further details are available at this time.

I am a crew member. One ALWAYS has the option to refuse to do something on set if safety is an issue. Often times there is a time crunch, a deadline, safety becomes secondary and if the 1st AD does not step up and declare something unsafe, then the crew member(s) at risk have the absolute right to refuse to do the task at hand. This person either did not see the danger or chose to take the risk.

Lawsuit? CBS is an American Owned company. Diver’s Negligence is his fault because he didn’t use the buddy system. He had the responsibility to tell someone….”I’ll do it as soon as I can get a buddy-diver”. End of story.

    No lawsuit….diver’s error….simply sad :(

I think that all the focus should be on helping the grieving wife and i am sure all the members of the crew.

some People do not have any class sending a law suit threat

What is wrong with people where is the compassion.

No Lawsuit – this is Brazil, not the USA.

Someone’s going to have a big lawsuit here. Scubadivers are supposed to use the buddy system – you never dive alone.

Sounds like amateurs were in charge here…
