Britney Spears Says “Life is like jail…Groundhog Day”

Britney Spears upcoming documentary, Britney Spears Sets the Record Straight,  will air on November 30th on MTV.   A surprising revelation has leaked that is counter to what we’ve been led to believe about the pop star’s present mindset.  It appears she is still troubled, despite outward appearances.

The past several years have been a series of major highs and lows for Britney.  She suffered a messy divorce, shaved her head, suffered a mental collapse and lost custody of her children.   Slowly but surely she has gotten her life back on track with her father taking over her care and business dealings, has reconnected with family members, has earned back visitation rights with her sons and has begun to get back to the business of entertainment.

The crux of the matter appears to be the fact that Britney doesn’t have any control of her life.  She tearfully admitted during the filming of her documentary:

“There’s no excitement, there’s no passion.  I have really good days, and then I have bad days.  Even when you go to jail you know there’s the time when you’re gonna get out.  But in this situation, it’s never ending.  It’s just like Groundhog Day every day.  I think it’s too in control.  If I wasn’t under the restraints I’m under, I’d feel so liberated.  When I tell them the way I feel, it’s like they hear but they’re really not listening.”

It has been satisfying to think that Spears was in a really good place now….and based upon where she has been, her life has improved dramatically.  However, her admission does shed some light on the price she must pay to keep her bipolar disorder in check – the total surrender of her independence.
