Britney Spears‘ has been keeping company with Las Vegas-based model Marco D’Angelo lately and now details have been revealed about their budding romance.

Spears met the Italian hunk through a mutual friend about 9 months ago according to Star magazine.  The two started out as friends, hanging out poolside at the Mirage Hotel and Casino, when Britney would come to visit.

First spotted at Sur restaurant in LA on November 17, the two have officially been dating for just a few weeks, according to a long-time friend of the model.

“It is a fresh relationship but Marco thinks the world of Britney and Britney really trusts him,” says the friend. “It is going really well and both are really happy with one another.”

Britney recently described her life as a prison sentence in a documentary for MTV.
