Lily Allen’s Frightening Airport Strip Search

Singer Lily Allen and supermodel Agyness Deyn didn’t get a warm welcome when they landed at the Dubai airport in the United Arab Emirates.  Instead they were subjected to a strip search

The women were not the only celebrities who were put through this humiliating experience.  They were in the country to attend the grand opening of the Atlantis Palms Hotel, which is located on the man-made Palm Jumeirah Island.

Here is what Lily had to say about the situation:

“I was strip searched, which was so nice as soon as you arrive.  I knew I didn’t have anything on me so I wasn’t worried.  I wasn’t paranoid, just terrified.  It was at the airport and took more than an hour.  It was really scary as they didn’t tell you what they were doing, they just said, ‘Take off trousers’ and I was like, ‘Ahhh, hello!’”

Agyness and her boyfriend, The Strokes star Albert Hammond, Jr., were both also asked to undress for a search.  The model said that “it was traumatic but none the less it is their culture and one must respect that.”

The hotel did send out warning to the guests ahead of time about the strict laws on bringing drugs into the country.  The photos at the top are of Lily at the Atlantis Palm opening and on the right a few days later when she arrived back home.

  1. It’s their culture?!? The Muslim culture has been on the United States case for FRISKING women in Iraq! I’d certainly never visit Dubai. This is a country trying to build itself as a tourist destination in the post-Oil world? They need to re-assess their people skills and the circumstances under which they take such a step.

  2. How this particular part of the world presents itself, is unrealistic! It’s wrong to assume that everyone is wrong, and violating what still is a ”Basic Human Right’ at best they could have used drug sniffing dogs to protect, themselves from any threat of snuggling. As an American it’s sad and scary to think that our one very tragic day has infected the entire world to become mistrusting, to the point of humiliation!

  3. Disgusting – I’d like to laugh at the craziness but I can’t as that has to be one of the most dehumanising experiences. That’s given me another reason to be too scared to visit a place in the Middle East. What the hell is the world coming to?
