Tina Fey’s Scar

Tina Fey’s scar is not something she likes to discuss, but in the latest issue of Vanity Fair magazine, the actress and her husband, Jeff Richmond, talk about the childhood slashing incident that caused the scar on the left side of her face.

“It’s impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it and glorifying it,” she says.

Fey’s husband, SNL composer Jeff Richmond, says he was fascinated by the scar.  “This is somebody who, no matter what it was, has gone through something. And I think it really informs the way she thinks about her life. When you have that kind of thing happen to you, that makes you scared of certain things, that makes you frightened of different things, your comedy comes out in a different kind of way, and it also makes you feel for people.”

“It was in, like, the front yard of her house and somebody just came up, and she just thought somebody marked her with a pen,” Richmond says of the incident.

Fey was shaken up over the anthrax attack at 30 Rock shortly after 9/11 and used therapy to cope with her fearful reaction. The therapist talked to her about 9/11 and the anthrax delivered to Tom Brokaw’s office, linking them to the crime against her when she was little. “It’s the attack out of nowhere,” Fey says. “Something comes out of nowhere, it’s horrifying.”

  1. She is still really beautiful, probably even more so with the scar.
I think perfect faces are a little boring. I would rather have faces that have been and seen and have a little character of their own.

  2. It’s interesting trivia only insofar as one may be interested in learning more about Tina, which presumably would indicate one to have some appreciation for her talent and beauty. I’ve long thought she is brilliant and sublimely sexy, the former quality serving to further enhance the latter. When I see that scar I feel only concern for her for the pain it must have caused her. I don’t buy for a minute that it has held her back at all. How can anything hold back the Force of the Fey?

  3. I have a scar, similar to this, right side, though and purple…I put makeup on it daily for work,it occurred during a car accident when I was 2, I am now 43. I was so interested in this scar, which I never noticed on Tina, truly, and it made me look back at my life when people have told me they never noticed mine…maybe I should have believed them. It (my scar) has always made me insecure. But Tina and I are both lucky. We are alive and our scars didn’t cause our mouths to slant or anything, thank goodness for that. :) She is very talented (love the impressions of Sarah Palin!!!)

  4. I heard that she was slashed by a Black girl and that she’s reluctant to discuss it since it may lead to racial acrimony.
She wears it like a rose, she’s beautiful.
