NBC News has confirmed that David Gregory, longtime correspondent, will be the new moderator for Meet the Press.
Gregory will replace Tim Russert, who died of a heart attack in June.
“I’m honored and deeply humbled as I take on this role,” Gregory said after the official announcement was made. “I’m filled with a great sense of purpose as I join a superb team to cover Washington and the world from a treasured platform in our country. Above all, I want to make Tim proud.”
Tom Brokaw, who has been the interim host, introduced Gregory on this morning’s program after an interview with President-elect Barack Obama.
