Samuel L. Jackson Disses L.A. Alcoholics Anonymous

Samuel L Jackson

Pulp Fiction star Samuel L. Jackson has been open about his addiction issues with alcohol and other illegal substances.  Now Jackson talks about his dissatisfaction with Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in L.A.

He may be 18 years sober but he would still like to be in some kind of help group setting to assist him in steering clear of temptation.  It sounds like Los Angeles isn’t the place for Sam:

“It’s just too weird.  You hear guys saying stuff like, ‘I’ve been hitting the red wine too heavy and I need to stop, but I want to keep smoking reefer (cannabis) and doing cocaine.’  In New York, rehab is for real.  You sit next to guys who were IV users, guys who stole s#!, guys who sold their bodies.  In Los Angeles you are sitting next to a guy who wants to go easy on the fine wine.  Man, that’s a symptom of something right there.”

Wow, that is quite a mouthful and our guess is that Jackson may have offended half of L.A. with his insightful comments.

  1. Obviously he and I go to very different meetings. Perhaps he just needs to hit one that’s not in a Malibu gated community.

  2. The real issue is that he doesn’t go to meetings. Let’s just look at the accusation, ‘Los Angeles dosen’t have real addicts’. Does anyone need to say anything about this statement. I pray that Mr. Jackson is/and or gets back on his program and starts on his 12th step with more vigor.

Oh L.A. where bubble gum rains from the sky and sugar is the drug or choice. Blue skies and dreams….
