Oprah Winfrey Named PETA Person of the Year
Animal rights group PETA has honored Oprah Winfrey with the title of ‘Person of the Year’. Ingrid E. Newkirk, President of the organization, said that Winfrey received this award for “using her powerful voice to defend those without one.”
Oprah has always shared her love of animals with the world. Last April the talk show host lost her 13 year old cocker spaniel. Winfrey dedicated a show to her pet.
To show their appreciation, PETA will bestow a plaque and a letter of appreciation to the media mogul.
