Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker, aka ‘The Slot Machine’, made a long catch that he took in for a touchdown on Sunday with 1:52 minutes to go in the first half of the contest between New England and the Arizona Cardinals.  He celebrated by dropping to the ground and proceeded to make a snow angel.

Cute right?  The officials didn’t think so.  Welker, who holds several all time records with the team, was given a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct at Foxborough Stadium and may end up getting fined by the NFL.

The 27 year old 2009 Pro Bowl reserve pick was surprised that his spontaneous actions merited the wrath of the officials.  He said, “I just got a little too excited there.  I really didn’t think it would be a penalty.  I wouldn’t have done it if I thought it was.”

New England ended up beating Arizona 47-7.
