My family extends our deepest sympathy for the family of Jennifer Seitz. My family has been on many cruises and I can tell you that there is a lot of cameras... everywhere. There are even cameras that look on both sides of the ships. They can not see into the cabins but they can see if anyone has fallen or otherwise. There is always someone who monitors those cameras...24/7. The crew members we've seen (9 voyages) are always going out of their way to be on their best behavior. I've only met a very few who are only somewhat less than all out nice. Usually it's because they are still stumbling with their English and don't want to embarrass themselves nor make fun of the passenger. I sure hope the CSI teams can find the real cause of this very sad time in the family's life. As for the comment of the above "Mike"... there is always a chance that some type of crime or safety problem could occur. But, this is true about any place you go. Yet, the safety record AND criminal problems that most of us face at our own home places are far worse than on most cruises. The chances of getting killed in a car wreck on any given day is far higher. I fear the taxi ride while in port way more than on a ship. Also, as an experienced passenger, the crew members are required to not be in ANY public area when not on duty doing their jobs. AND yes, as stated above... most of these crew members are working long hours so that they can send money home to their family. One thing most people don't realize... is that many cruise companies don't just put people in the public the first time. Our last cabin steward had to be a cabin steward-in-training for the "front line" cabin steward's... in other words: the front-line cabin stewards were training "their cabin stewards. The same with bar and casino personnel. The crew members who are part of the spa and salon areas also under go intensive training before ship assignments. One last thought... there was a very minor fire aboard our ship (caused by a passenger who was smoking and caught the table cloth on fire)... the crew acted with such professionalism as to deserve the highest praise.

Hi. I as well was on the ship and I agree with the other passenger. It was kept very quiet and people had to find out about the incident on CNN news. I was extremely upset as now any witnesses to anything are on their way home. I know the husband was held until we docked. Unfortunately with the cruise ships is that there is so many security cameras in the public places to see everything, however, once you enter into your stateroom their is no way of ever knowing what happended because it would be invasion of privacy.

The cabin was taped off, etc...... A dating gameshow that was looping in the cabins that showed the couple participating was taken off the air.......probably protocal for such an event....anyway....however this turns out it looks all bad.....all bad!......condolences to the family.

First and Foremost this is a very sad event and our thoughts should be with the lady and her family.
I would like to respond to MIKE, the crew are always be watched by managers and all crew and public areas have several cameras watching over people. Not to mention the extensive background checks that all lines give to recieve the documents and job wanted. Next, crew members have their bags searched more, due to government regulations ON ALL PORTS, and she could not have been taken off in this way. As sad as it is she would most likely have either fallen off for some reason, or could have been pushed off (as sad and hopefully not true as it is). As a person who has worked for many years on cruise ships I think you should be ashamed for your judgment of people who are working hard to make a living, and usually are taking care of thier families by being away from them for so long because of the great options that these jobs have. As an American Citizen I can tell you that working on a cruise ship is a lot of work (10 hours a day) with a fair pay for the people working on the ship, a chance that NO ONE would give up for a "sex slave".

Again my thoughts go out to her and her family.

In addition to the fact that I get seasick and bored without my own toys, this is why I refuse to go on a cruise. I would advise investigating this husband. This is a perfect way to murder someone and in international water, too. Apparently the cruise lines offer little help in solving these.

having been on 17 cruises i have heard an alarming amount of women missing on cruise ships.. my guess is that she was taken off the ship and is now, sadly a sex slave victim.. if you research all the missing women on cruise ships they always seem to disappear while at sea but not reported till they dock... the crew targets its victim and then waits for the opportunity, usually she is single or if married will make the mistake of roaming the ship alone at some point, it may be something silly like walking back to their cabin alone, then they are drugged and put in storage bins, once the ship docks they are taken off and whisked away and no matter how much you search at sea you won't find them...
if they really want to stop this, do not allow any cargo off the ship until each one is searched, they may find more than food in these crates... also if your an attractive woman and the crew seems to take an interest in you, red flags should go up, and watch the drinks they are serving, thats where most of this starts,
