Three time Academy Award winning actor and director Woody Allen received a standing ovation last night in Warsaw, Poland after a rare performance with the New Orleans Jazz Band.

The 73 year old musician and his group appeared before a crowd of 3,000 jazz lovers at the Sala Kongresowa concert hall.   Allen began playing as a teen and continues to enjoy performing in small venues around Manhattan.  His trip to Poland was a departure and apparently much appreciated by those who witnessed the session.

The two hour concert an infusion of traditional jazz.   Before Allen started the first set on his clarinet he told the crowd, “We will do our best to entertain you.”  From all accounts – mission accomplished.

Allen and his wife Soon-Yi reside in New York City with their two daughters Bechet and Manzie.
