Patrick Swayze

In March 2008 actor Patrick Swayze, 56, announced to the world that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  In recent days he has been making the press rounds for his new television show The Beast, which premieres on January 15.

Swayze was slated to be part of a presentation for the Television Critics Association Press Tour today.   Abbe Raven, A&E president announced to those in attendance that the actor had developed pneumonia and because of his serious medical condition, was admitted to an area hospital.   He shared the following with those present: “He asked us specifically to go forward with today’s panel.  We wish him the very best with his recovery.”

In The Beast, Swayze plays the role of a veteran FBI agent who trains a rookie partner played by Travis Fimmel, who said: “He’s an inspiration.  He makes the little things seem so not important.”  All thirteen episodes of season one have been completed.

Swayze and his wife recently sat down with Barbara Walters to film a 20/20 special entitled Patrick Swayze: The Truth, which aired on ABC earlier this week.  The one hour program was a very candid discussion about how his illness has affected his family and he discussed the emotional and physical toll of the chemotherapy treatment.

  1. Life is a journey here on earth as a gift from God. We can enjoy helping people and paying it forward, or we can feel sorry for our selves. Patrick Sawyze’s and his interview with Barbara Walters gives myself and other people who have major health problems the courage and strength to face another tomorrow and to be strong even with much pain in our lives and body. I also take the stand to try to leave something positive behind to the people I love. I try not to waste my time on people who don’t care, I try to leave positive seeds for them and be strong and when my time is over in my journey, I may help someone to face their pain.
You have made a difference in my life as well as many others. God Bless Patrick and his wife.
Hang in there Big Guy, Keep The Faith.

  2. Patrick:

Two weeks ago, I was diagnosed with a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Your battle with cancer has been a terrific inspiration to me. You are one of the few real people in the Hollywood fantasy land / PR machine.

    Keep the faith,

    Dave

  3. I am lifting you up in my prayers.
    God Bless and speedy recovery.

  4. You don’t give up Patrick. Yeah, that is a statement. You are an inspiration. No one can tarnish what you continue to do. The media is uncaring, but the people you touch with your life will not waiver. Don’t you ever ever ever give up!!!

    Peace Love and Understanding.
