Ben & Jerry’s is inviting you to celebrate America’s opportunity for positive change by stopping in at one of their 430 scoop shops in the U.S. during the month of January to purchase a scoop of “Yes Pecan!” (pronounced pee-can).  Amber waves of buttery ice cream with roasted non-partisan pecans is in honor of the January 20th inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

The recipient of the proceeds from the sale of these tasty scoops is the Common Cause Education Fund. Ben & Jerry’s has committed to donating up to $10,000 by contributing $1 for each new membership and for each person donating a $1.  This goal has already been met, but you can still go in and have a cone or a cup of “Yes Pecan!”.

While you are enjoying your treat, you are contributing to an organization that is a vehicle for citizens to make their voices heard in the political process.  They are committed to an honest, open and accountable government and encourage citizen participation in democracy.

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, friends since seventh grade, opened their first Ben & Jerry’s in Vermont in 1978.  Ben & Jerry’s can be found in 580 locations worldwide and has a history of giving back to the communities in which they are located.
