Oops…and the winner should have been Rihanna
Katy Perry walked away with the Best International Song award at the 10th NRJ Awards in Cannes, but is apparently not the rightful owner of the award. It was later stated by the host of the show, Nikos Aliagas that there had been an error in the vote counting and Rihanna was actually the winner for Disturbia.
Perry did score a real win for the Best International Album. Other NRJ Award winners were Enrique Iglesias, The Pussycat Dolls and the Jonas Brothers.
The NRJ Awards are the Brit’s equivalent to the Grammy Awards in the U.S. Listeners of NRJ radio station cast their votes in multiple categories.
