Chris Brown, 19 year old singer and songwriter, turned himself in to police at 7:15 p.m. last night at the Wilshire division of the Los Angeles Police Department, accompanied by high profile lawyer Mark Geragos and his investigator Scott Ross.
The musician was charged with assaulting and making criminal threats against his girlfriend, R&B singer Rihanna, who’s given name is Robyn Fenty. Brown was released on $50,000 bail. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, where additional charges are possible.
TMZ is reporting that a police source likened Rihanna’s injuries to what you would expect on an MMA fighter. The injuries are described as two huge contusions, with significant swelling and bruising, on either side of her forehead. The singer received a bloody lip and nose as well as bit marks on her arms and fingers.
The couple had attended the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy party in Beverly Hills on Saturday evening. According to the Los Angeles Times, the couple left the event and got into a verbal and physical altercation while Brown was driving in the Hancock Park neighborhood. He stopped the car and Rihanna reportedly got out and called for help on her cellphone.
Rihanna’s 911 call brought law enforcement officers to the scene, where they aided the 20 year old singer and discovered that Brown had fled. According to the NY Daily News, Rihanna was treated at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center for her injuries.
Both singers canceled two hours before their scheduled performances at the Grammys. Rihanna had planned to sing Disturbia and Brown was slated to sing Forever. Show producers scrambled for additional performers, securing Justin Timberlake as a last minute replacement. Check out winners and red carpet photos here.

for everyones information, the couple had an argument about Brown flirting with other women. I read an article earlier today where a friend of Rihanna’s reported that this is NOT the first time Rihanna has been assaulted by Brown. Earlier in December, the friend said, they broke up and she discovered bruises on Rihanna’s neck and arms. Then obviously they got back together and Rihanna told Brown to stop flirting with other women.
I really don’t think it is fair that you all are just looking at it in Rhiannas point of view and not Chris’s aswell, maybe she started it?, maybe she deserved it huh?! I know it is wrong to hit a women but do you really believe that it is right to hit a man also! I can’t believe what happened, however I don’t look at him any differently as a person. He is still human and it is not my place to judge because I am not God. He has NEVER been in trouble for any reason until now and now its a great big deal. I can see if this had been a recurring thing but it hasn’t been. I do think that there was something she said or even did to provoke him. Many times women and men alike get caught up in the whole “men shouldn’t hit women” thing. This is true to a certain extent BUT coming from a family of nothing but brothers I can say that it IS alright for a man to defend himself. Now-a-days these women fight like men and intentionally do things to get a reaction. Then when the man does react, they are the first ones to cry victim. I think everyone just needs to calm down about this whole thing. I’ve been hearing about this on the radio all day for the past couple of days ever since this thing happened. We don’t have the facts and don’t know what really happened between those two. They’re only human. Nobody is perfect. I am still a Chris Brown fan. And sometimes when you don’t have the facts you gotta see it from both people’s sides. Yes it’s wrong to hit a woman from Rihanna side. But on Chris Brown’s defense, what if she did something really really stupid? I hear people say there’s no excuse for a man to hit a woman, but as a woman I have to say that I don’t see it like that. Everyone is equal. Women shouldn’t be so special over men. Women want to be equal. So sometime when you deserve it, then take it like a man. Sometimes women can go overboard and really push a man’s button.

SHE DESERVED IT??? No one EVER deserves to beaten or abused in any way. It makes me sick to read that you say she deserved it. No woman, or man ever deserves to be abused by someone who is supposed to love them. Maybe Chris Brown did see his mother abused all the time, but he’s old enough now to either get help with his anger or not respond in the way he did. This happens EVERY day to women AND men all over the world and it needs to be known that those victims never “deserve” it.

I wouldn’t just jump on Chris Browns case because we don’t know what she did to provoke him. She could’ve pushe him or something no i don’t think it was right for him to put his hands on her. People go through things like that everyday when it’s a regular person no one sees it but when it’s a celebrity everyone all of a sudden starts to come up with different rumors and so forth.
