R.I.P dude
people have there own opinion but this is not the right place to put it.
what if you died and someone came to you funeral and said that I am glad that he is dead and he will burn in hell. it could be true but you do not do that stuff at his funeral. it is disrespectful. i do not care if you are the smartest guy on the earth if you are disrespectful then god bless you. the reason why people are disrespectful is because they have a bad life or they had a bad child hood and they got to take it out on someone and they should not do it here. go make a site and say all that you want to so but not here dude.

Wildchild....Oh please. Cars are necessary to get people to and from work, to grocery stores and even to your "sporting events". There is no comparison between a car and recreational biking. Jeremy and all the others put themselves at risk, so when something goes haywire do not start boo-hooing (oh you are the greatest man). He not only put his life on the line but the well-being of his new (1 year) wife that he "loved" so much and the emotional turmoil that his "pro" ability caused the rest of his family. They are the innocent ones and the ones I feel sorry for.

This is not the video of jeremy's accident in costa rica in feb. This is the video of his accident in 2007 where he walked away from. The video is on you tube as part of a tribute video which shocked me,I was not expecting it. The accident is much more violent than this one. You will see the trick did not look good from the start . It looked like the wind blew the bike over to the side and jeremy could not bring it around, he face planted in the ground with all the energy from the jump. He had no chance. The only good thing about the video is it shows how quickly the medical responce team came. I allways had question about that, but they did eveything for him. Just you tube jeremy lusk tribute.

RIP Jeremy. With respect and prayes for your family.

There is a lot of talk about experience. The idea that the experience and thrill of a sport leads us to respect it. True enough.

Here's another thought: Maybe the experience and thrill of this sport causes us to disregard the danger.

Sky diving, swimming with sharks, race car driving, down hill skiing etc... Each can take a life. Individuals involved are rarely expected to police themselves becasue the need to seek thrills from the inside is too compelling. So, it's always come down to the folks on the outside coming in and saying, "Okay that's enough let's limit this a bit." It will ALWAYS seem wrong to those who participate. Society has always and forever taken the roll of regulators. So, maybe this sport needs someone to step in and say, "Please slow down the increasing need to go higher and farther because there acually ARE limits to what we can can do."

I say don't shut down the sport. That will only encourage people to go outside the law in purely unsafe situations.

Regardless if society agrees with the sport or not, they don't want their kids going into something that may take them away from families.

Therefore, in my humble opinion, the sport needs to better regulate itself before more people die and society/public opinion/ politicians/police/health services eventually step in and do it for them.

That way they can control what happens next.

Um. You guys do know that the video that is up there now is actually a crash from 2007 xgames. Jeremy walked away from it. The actual video is not here now. Maybe it was earlier in the year but that's not it now.

Wow - some strange stuff written here. Cool it folks. Sports are great - even this one. Some take it to extreems that other don't understand - why? - many reasons I am sure, but they are all individual choices and this is a free country and that is what makes it a great place - What is a sport anyway? I've seem my fair share of questionable ones in the Olymics of all places. Jeremy and many others take huge risks out there, myself included, with much less skill I admit. I am sure many of the naysayers take their own risks, smoking, drinking, overeating, not wearing you seatbelt or whatever, so really just keep quiet and find some other blog. It sure is one of the most exiting moments to rip a sweet line and thanks to all those pushing the limits to share a little of the excitement with us. Afterall life would not be worth living if we all sat around scared of death. My love to the family and all the other sport enthusiast who leave too soon.
