   Does Vogue magazine believe that we are all blind, deaf and dumb? Obviously, like the rest of the media, they think that we are just “sheeple” who believe anything they tell us to believe. Although Michelle Obama is educated, she certainly is no Jacqueline Kennedy, nor a fashion icon. If the last “First Lady” to grace the cover of Vogue was Hillary, that is enough for me to stop purchasing/subscribing to Vogue. I will never pick up another copy since this magazine is clearly part of the propaganda machine of the Dumbocratic party. Michelle Obama would be more respected if she would focus on the serious issues facing our country rather than promoting herself and her incompetent foreign “fashion” designers. I wonder if she is proud to be an American for the second time in her life?

   What an ungenerous response from the respondee above!! Watching events from the UK it seems to me that the President and his wife are intelligent, patriotic people with immense charisma- as very few people have- maybe 2 or 3 every generation. Mr Obama and his wife are in the same league as our own dearly loved Diana in this respect, in my opinion.
   I have watched Michelle’s speeches and campaigns during the past year and it strikes me that she could well be upstaging her husband in terms of icon status, eventually….as did Hillary. Has not the respondee above not heard this lady in action ?
   Rock on Ms. Obama, you are a beautiful, charismatic, and highly articulate and educated lady- I loved your photo shoot- and in this age of recession and depression why not? Diana similarly gave us a reason to smile 20 years ago in the UK.

   I get what you’re saying. But one thing you have to remember is that how many YOUNG First Lady’s have there been… that too, has been fashionable? How many OLD 50 year old First Lady’s can you say are drop dead gorgeous and is an icon that many young women want to be? It’s not like Michelle has to actually do anything other than support her husband. She is only enjoying this moment in her life and will probably only pose pictures FOR Vogue- a highly known classy fashion Mag.. Michelle is hoping to be not just a fashionable model for young women all over the country, but She even said on the news that she actually likes fashion and she enjoys wearing the fashionable clothes! SO all in all, I wouldn’t down Michelle just yet. The Obama’s haven’t even been in office for 3 months yet! GIve her a break. It’s her hobby to be interested in fashion and she is simply enjoying her time and hoping to reach the lives of women all over. If you were her, wouldn’t you do the same? Why not?!

Sorry but VOGUE looses all its reputation instantly with this one, come on can we consider Michelle Obama an ICON OF FASHIONand of beauty? You must be kiddin. How low can America get with Barrak at the WH and Michelle on the top of VOGUE. This is quite appalling, i will stop my subscription to VOGUE tomorrow

   Re: the responders above: way to prove the superficiality of contemporary American culture. Never mind that the Obamas are the first presidential couple in the White House, nor all the social change they are trying to enact. Nope, just because they look like NORMAL PEOPLE you all decide Michelle is not worthy to grace the cover of a fashion magazine. Well maybe Vogue and the fashion industry are trying to dispel some of the nasty superficialities that have been so prevalent in the past century and utilize fashion as a valid vessel of art and intellectualism. But God forbid they should do so, since fashion magazines are only allowed to be vapid, shallow and untainted by (gasp) something as unholy as politics. In all honestly, you negative posters sound like racist elitists who would judge a magazine based on a single issue. Way to judge a book by its cover.

   The catty remarks about Michelle’s looks are from people who either think they are beautiful or have spent their whole life being lauded as some example of natural beauty and wonder why their looks haven’t opened doors for them.

   I think Michelle is a true stunner and on top of that educated, intelligent and classy as anything. It must pain the haters to know that such a woman is married to our President and living in the White House and the only way they can vent their anger is in dissing a beautiful woman.

   It pains me the way people laud Tyra, Beyonce, Halle, Vanessa Williams and Beyonce as epitomies of black beauty. Tyra ain’t got a man. Halle is a baby mama. We’ve all seen Vanessa’s ovaries on the internet and Beyonce has never acknowledged her marriage to Jay Z and by all accounts has been his concubine for some 8+ years.

   If the haters still insist that she is ugly well hear this – this ugly lady’s looks did not prevent her from getting two ivy league degrees. It did not stop her from being loved by her parents. It did not stop her from snagging a hot shot senator who went on to become the most powerful man in the world. It did not stop her from giving birth to two beautiful healthy children. It hasn’t stopped her from living in the White House with white people at her beck and call, having her meals prepared for her at the click of a finger. It hasn’t stopped her from wearing expensive beautiful clothes. It hasn’t stopped her from traveling on Air Force One when the rest of us have to ride the subway. It hasn’t stopped her from having date nights in Paris and Broadway when the rest of you are at Red Lobster. It hasn’t stopped her husband from looking at her like she is the most beautiful woman in the world.

   Michelle has singlehandedly knocked down every single negative stereotype thrown at black women over the centuries. She ain’t doing drugs, she ain’t no baby mama, she ain’t living in the projects, there are no sleazy dirty stories from disgruntled boyfriends, no smutty pictures hanging around on the internet. On top of that, she is a beautiful looking brown skinned woman and therefore a lot of black women can relate to her and feel a connection that dark skinned women who don’t have piles of weaves and wind machines behind them can also snag tonights star prize.

   Get a life people and stop focusing on irrelevant things such as looks. Michelle Obama doesn’t even know that you exist and here you are expending precious moments of YOUR life being an utter fool. Get a hobby, do some charity work, join the gym, do anything that will get you a life. Michelle’s living her life so go on and live yours.
