Dancing with the Stars Season 8 is set to premiere on Monday, March 9 and things aren’t running as smoothly as in previous years. Two contestants, Jewel and Nancy O’Dell have been forced to drop out before the competition even gets started because of serious injuries.
Jewel has fractured the tibea in both of her legs and O’Dell has suffered torn knee cartilage that will require surgery.
According to Executive Producer Conrad Green, at least one replacement will be announced during Monday’s two-hour premiere. He said, “Obviously this has caught us by surprise. Any new contestant would have literally days to learn the routines, as opposed to the month that the other contestants have been training. The show will go on.”
The two women are the first contestants forced to bow out during the pre-show training. According to Green, they will scale back the brutal one month workout in the future in order to prevent injuries due to over-training.

Us Weekly indicates that Playboy model and Girls Next Door co-star Holly Madison will be putting on her dancing shoes when the show launches on Monday. That should be very, very interesting.
