Lance Armstrong Injured in Spain Cycling Crash (CRASH VIDEO)
Lance Armstrong was loaded into an ambulance and taken to the University Clinic in Valladolid after suffering a fall during the first stage of the Vuelta of Castilla and Leon race in Spain today. The injury occurred when more than a dozen racers got tangled up and tumbled to the ground. He is expected to be released later today.
According to the AP, the seven time Tour de France winner may have injured his right collarbone. The athlete is in the midst of a cycling comeback, riding with Team Astana in the five day race event.
According to team leader Johan Bruyneel, Armstrong suffered a clean fracture without complications and he should make a speedy recovery. This message was conveyed via a Twitter feed.
Armstrong raced in the one-day Milan San Remo last Satuday, finishing 125th. He has been in training to compete in the Tour de France in July.
Prior to his European trek, he was on hand to launch a new Nike charitable initiative, Stages.
