Mavis Elizabeth Nicholson Leno is an American philanthropist and the wife of talk show host Jay Leno. They have been married since 1980 and do not have any children.

A leading feminist in California and internationally, she keeps a low profile, choosing to work behind the scenes in support of Feminist Majority Foundation’s Campaign to Stop Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan. She has been the groups Chair since 1997, giving generously of her money and time to further the cause of educating the world about the plight of Afghan women under the Taliban.

Mavis Leno was one of the driving forces in changing the opinion of President Bill Clinton as well as the executives of Unocal Corporation regarding the construction of an oil pipeline through Afghanistan, which could have put billions of dollars into the hands of the Taliban.
