Madonna Adoption Plans Delayed: David Banda Meets His Father

It looks like Madonna will have to wait until Friday to learn the outcome of the ruling on whether she will be allowed to adopt another child from Malawi. Conflicting reports indicate that the little girl named Mercy James is either 3 or 4 years old.

Along for the journey is Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon and her two sons, Rocco Ritchie and David Banda. David, who was adopted from Malawi, met his biological father Yohane Banda, who spoke about their meeting. ” We spent three hours together. My son has grown too big.”

Yohane had only good things to say about Madonna and commented that David looks a lot like his half-brother. Madonna plans on take her children to Home of Hope Orphanage and to Lipunga, the village where David’s ancestors lived.

There are no laws in Malawi that prevent a single parent from adopting a child. Each case is evaluated on its own merits. Friday is the day the judge is expected to grant temporary custody. Mercy will then be free to travel back to the U.S. with Madge and the rest of the family.
