   It’s about time the truth be known about Alex Da Silva. He has had a reputation of being a rapist for years in the Salsa scene. No surprise. Only now the public is finding out. May justice finally be served and may any unknown victims please come forward. He will be put where he really deserves to be.

   I knew him when he was teaching in the San Francisco Bay area several years ago.

   He was a great teacher, dancer and approachable back then.
   But the more famous he became the more arrogant and cruel he became.

   I heard rumors from female Salsa dancers about what a bad person he actually was and how foul he was to his partners.

   Well any suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty but he’s offended many and burnt many bridges in the dance world.
   If he is found guilty he will find little support from the dance community and will have to take his medicine

   People will eventually know if he is or not innocent. I have seen and talk to Alex many of times over my years of dancing and he has gotten a bit arrogant over time. That does not make him guilty and if he has done what they claim then he should be punished. I only hope that this is not true as jail is never a great solution. But if he is found guilty I hope that they put him in jail and that when he comes out we are not supporting him in any way and he can either leave the state in shame or go back to brazil and be gone forever.

   It is not just about being popular but it is also about using your fame to get many of the free offers to include women that will be willing to do whatever you want that makes it hard to believe that he can be that stupid. Not only that but as a teacher he is put on a trusting position and this causes the rest of us who teach and try never to get involve to be viewed in a different light.

   Good luck with your defense Alex but if you are guilty please leave and never come back.

   Okay.. so.. here’s my 2 cents on the topic.

   I’m not saying that he is or isn’t guilty… Because it’s not my place to say wether he is or not.
   I’m sure some of you aren’t gonna like what I’m gonna say.. But here’s what I think:

   If this did in fact happen, then in a sense, the women that it happened to could be partially to blame!
   And I say this because, they’re the ones that agreed to go to his house!!
   I mean come on… If they’re only students of his, then they would have no reason to go to his house!!
   And any woman with even half a brain would realize something is up, if he used some line like “You should come over to my house for some free private lessons” .. or something along those lines!

   Chances are, that because he is a celebrity.. The women just want their 15 minutes of fame. And what better way to get it, than to agree to go to his house.. sleep with him….. and then turn around and claim that he “lured” you there and then he raped you!

   I hope that he isn’t guilty… but only time will tell.
   If he is guilty…. my respect for him as a dancer won’t change.. becuase lets face it.. he is a phenominal dancer! But my respect for him as a person will change!

   Teachers are in roles of trust. It’s only natural that someone would trust their teacher wasn’t a rapist. It’s also natural to listen when a teacher asks you to do something, especially when you respect them.

   Yes, there are things women can do to lower the risk of being sexually assaulted, but you can never guarantee it 100%, especially because they usually are perpetrated by men that women know and trust.

   You’re such an idiot. I hope none of the women who got assaulted read your stupid, insensitive, moronic comment.

    Lillian, I totally agree with your comment. I have been approached by Alex several times. He asked me to go eat with him after a salsa patry at 2 am in the morning, go to his house, teach a class with him, etc. Of course it made me feel good, especially because I was just a beginner.

    I simply said “no, thank you”. If you are a woman and you ever met him, you would be able to tell immediately what kind of guy he is. He is a dog, and everybody knew that, so to think that you will go to his house and then to the bedroom and he will not try to have sex with you, you would have to be brain dead. Why on earth a woman would need to go to his bedroom!!!????

    Of course, she has the right to change her mind the last minute in the bedroom even if initially she wanted to have sex and then he forced her. That is very possible and then he is guilty. But partially she is guilty too, because she is irresponsible. If you cross the street without caution and get hit by a car because of that, is there your fault? If he jumed on you when you were taking a walk in the park, then it’s a little different.

    To your comment, Shavone, it would never be me or my sister, but if it was, I would tell her or myself that it’s partially her fault because it was very stupid to do something like that.

    He is also a very tiny guy. I think I would be able to at least hirt him if there was a fight (and I’m not a big girl at all) and this should have been enough evidence to put him in jail the first time around.

    I don’t know what happened, but I really don’t want the guy to go to jail if it’s just because he is a horny dog, because then we would loose half of our male sasla population.

    I do not personally know Alex Da Silva however, I do know his current dance partner Alien Ramirez and she is a sweet heart. Form what I have heard Alex does have his arrogance. Does he have a rapist tendency? I DOUBT IT. Therefore, in my opinion he is an INNOCENT Person.

    See, the problem in this case is, everyone around him and within the Salsa Community are extremely jealous of him especially the guys. I myself am a Dancer and a former WSF Vice-World Salsa Champion & AAU National Int’l Latin Champion and I have had my share of jealousy. I only wish Da Silva the best of luck and I know the outcome of this investigation will prove his innocence!

    Wow! Just heard about Alex. My husband & I met him (after he was on SYTYCD) at a private party. He was extremely approachable, friendly, humble, and gracious. I do see/hear the jealousy that goes on in the real life soap opera known “As The Salsa World Turns”. That world is very clickish! Men & women burn eachother then trash eachother. It’s a shame to read the blogs that have already judged this man before he’s had his day in court. I feel very bad for his loved ones.

    Okay, so as far as it never being the woman’s fault… to an extent that’s true! If a woman gets dragged off to a back alley somewhere, forced to the ground, and raped that way.. of course it’s not there fault!
    But if the woman is going to flat out agree to go to the guys house, and into their bedroom….. then yea, it’s partially their fault!! They didn’t have to agree to go!
    And yea.. teachers are in a role of trust, and it is natural to listen to them when you’re asked to do something… but again.. to a certain extent!! You listen to what they’re asking you to do IN CLASS!!!
    If one of your teachers in school, or for some other class that you may take outside of school (Dance, music.. etc..) had’ve invited you over to their house for private lessons, or food, or whatever… because you respect and trust them… you would’ve gone?!     If the women did go into his house willingly.. you’re right.. it doesn’t give him the right to do anything to them! But they should’ve been smart enough to know that a guy like him would try something, and that they should’ve said NO!! Cuz even just watching him on tv.. you can tell that he’s pretty much a womanizer!

    No self respecting woman in their right mind would ever agree to go to a teachers house, or anyone elses house that they really don’t know, outside of whatever, however, or wherever it is that they met him!!
    Regardless of how “Hot” or sweet the guy is…
    If you do agree to go.. then you’re pretty much putting yourself in the perfect position to have something happen! You’re just setting yourself up for the worst!

    I have been in the ‘Salsa Scene’ and have not only been around Alex, I have been around MANY like him. They have a very sexy, suave way of flirting, and know exactly what to say to make a girl feel special. They always have women around them, and have their pick of who to sleep with. I myself CHOSE to be with someone like that. I knew that I was an object to him, but I also WANTED to experience him.

    Sometimes the women get mad because they figure that out and then make accusations, and maybe he DID do something wrong. If so, he needs to be punished, but PLEASE girls, watch out out for Salsa ‘Sharks!’

    I just find if hard to believe that a man that has beautiful girls fawning all over him, would rape someone or would have to for that matter. Also, why would any girl taking classes from him, go over to his house and then enter his BEDROOM???? They had to in part know he was up to something if he asked them over. Just because he is their teacher doesn’t mean they have to do everything he says especially out of the class room. It’s just as likely that they hooked up with him willingly and then found out they’d been used and are mad and trying to get revenge. I don’t know him, but if he is guilty then he should be punished. However, the sad part is, even if he isn’t guilty and these were just angry flings or money/fame hungry women looking for their 15 minutes then he will never live this down. People will be afraid to take lessons from him and he will carry this stigma around forever. I really missed his choreography this season on SYTYCD. All I can say is I hope this is not true and it gets cleared up fast so he can be back on SYTYCD. If it is true, I am deeply sorry for the women he raped.

    Alex is not a rapist; he is a very passionate person; he has mega passion for dance, teaching, and yes women; he has changed my life forever by his commitment and creativity in the Salsa field; I am very very saddened: one because I am an excellent judge of character and because I am a very long time student of Alex and clearly he is NOT remotely identified with any of these charges ; my wife and I agree that that these charges are bogus and whoever has anything to do with falsifying these charges against Mr. Da Silva needs to get a life and I personally hope they die a horrible death for ruining a great man’s reputation. Alex I love you and I will stand by you and I am willing to formally and in writing stand by you in court and give my account of your character over the past ten years.
