The Duggar Family is Expecting Another Baby

When we first heard that the Duggar family was expecting another child we were shocked. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar already have 18 children, with the baby just a few months old. This time it is the eldest Duggar son Joshua and his wife Anna who are expecting their first child.

The young couple appear to be thrilled at the thought of becoming parents and Joshua is no stranger to daddy-like duties since he is the eldest sibling with seventeen brothers and sisters.

Anna had been getting some much needed advice from her mother in-law Michelle, who is excited to become a grandma. The family reality show 18 Kids and Counting: The Duggar Family on TLC will allow the young couple to share their pregnancy with the world.

Joshua and his wife will not continue with the Duggar tradition of using the letter J to name their children. They told Meredith Vieira on the Today Show that they are considering the letter M, in honor of his mother Michelle. Watch the video here.

September 1, 2009 UPDATE: The Duggar family appeared on the Today Show once again to report that Michelle Duggar is expecting another baby – her 19th. Guess that means that next year their reality show will undergo another name change. See video here.

All they did was have eighteen kids. They’re famous for contributing to overpopulation, and for being famous. I learned about status conferral in my Mass Communications class – people become famous only because the media chooses to report on them, or something.

OMG!!! When will this family stop having kids???? I’ve seen the show a few times and its like they live in total isolation from the 21st century. Every year that woman pops out a child! and then the older ones all end up taking care of the younger ones.

I hope this family has the best time of their lives. They maybe overpopulating but they do make their own stuff half the time so technically its not like they r taking from us. They have their own businesses to keep their family together. People dont like them because they have so many kids but atleast they can take care of their children on their own and not have to run to welfare offices like most americans do. Not saying they all do but atleast some of them do

When I first heard about this family, I responded with respectful awe that a woman could have so many children and maintain a functional home. After much thought, I do not agree with such a decision for two reasons. First, it is unhealthy for a woman to conceive so many children. Her uterus could rupture and she could die from the lack of rest. I doubt Jim Bob is competent to care for 18 children. Second, there is no earthly way for these children to receive the amount of attention needed by THEIR PARENTS and not their siblings. It is unfair to require that your older children be daily caretakers for the younger. Their lives will be a cycle of having too many babies and giving them insufficient parental support. These children will grow to believe their potential lies in getting married, having sex, and overpopulating society. I must add that I do respect that they are self sufficient, but at what cost to the self esteem of the children?

I think they’re great! They realize that children are blessings, not curses, and that God never retracted the command to be fruitful and multiply. Too bad we had to stop at 8!

I love the Duggar family, and watching their show is a great blessing to me. They are the family that I wish to some day have because I have never had a real family. I am 18 years old and hope to one day have lots of kids just like the Duggars. I have to say that Michelle Duggar is a wonderful women for being able to deal with 18 kids, so I have to give her all the Praise in the world. The Duggars have beautiful children!

There is also a mention of “moderation in all things.” Does this include procreation? However, they are self supporting, and they do purchase many used items keeping them from the landfill. While I do not agree with older siblings raising the younger ones, they appear to be a loving and close family. Everyone is fed, clothed, loved and appears healthy and normal. I think that the only reason this family is able to get an income is because of the ridiculous notoriety that they get for having so many children. I think there should be a law to stop large families that can cause more debt in this recession. A religious belief should not be a cover up for having a large family.

First, having more children than the average isn’t anything abnormal. However, having 18 children and not planning to stop is bizarre behavior. 5-6 children IMO is a sane limit for any family.

Michelle is pushing the limits. If something happens to her in childbirth all of these children are going to be without a mother. Also the chance of having a child with down’s is much greater now that she is in her mid 40’s. God has blessed them with heathy children. I know they say that children are a gift from God. My outlook on that is God gave us a brain and he expects us to use it wisely.

i think 18 is a little much i doing think that they should have as many as possible. maybe 8-10 sounds good. I cant staind how they think girls should teach,wear LONG skirts, no be rouf unlike the boys, teach there girsl to be good little house wifes and say “girls clean and cook boys get to go outside”. I dont like how they are ‘bible attics’ The big kids are parents to the little kids. The kids dint have them mom dod but they are there parents.
