Lindsay Lohan sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for a personal interview to discuss her very public breakup with girlfriend Samantha Ronson.

The 22-year-old says she was blindsided by the split, which she says “came out of nowhere.”

“I had no idea what was going on. I just hadn’t seen her in, like, a week. She, like, disappeared,” Lohan says.

Lohan says she is trying to be optimistic and hopes the split with Ronson is not permanent.  “I really care about Samantha and we’ll see what happens,” she says. “Maybe when we’re fully in the right place. And I love her.”
