Tonight’s music selections were standards from the Rat Pack era on the FOX reality show American Idol. The five remaining contestants were tasked with performing songs by crooners Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. The group mentor for the week was Jamie Foxx who did an incredible job of connecting with the contestants.

Still in the hunt with excellent performances were Adam Lambert, who sang Feeling Good, Kris Allen who chose The Way You Look Tonight, Allison Iraheta picked Someone To Watch Over Me, Matt Giraud sang My Funny Valentine and Danny Gokey chose Come Rain or Come Shine. We’ve included all of the performance videos below.

The judges were mainly positive this week. Simon had some good things to say about Allison before commenting, “I have a horrible feeling that you could be in trouble tonight.” He was also a little bit hard on Kris Allen, saying “Your performance was a little wet. Safe, quite nice but not incredible.”

It was reported today that iTunes accidental published the current ranking of American Idol Top Ten iTunes downloads. The information is supposed to be kept secret because it likely mimics voter sentiment, but a temporary glitch had the stats available for all to see for a short period of time.

According to the New York Post, Adam Lambert song downloads cover six of the ten spots, including Ring of Fire, Tracks Of My Tears, Play That Funky Music, Born To Be Wild, and at #1 Mad World. Kris Allen songs Ain’t No Sunshine, To Make You Feel My Love and Falling Slowly also made the top 10 as did Danny Gokey’s Endless Love.

If there is a correlation between iTunes downloads and viewer votes, it could signal the end of the line for Allison Iraheta or Matt Giraud.
