A few weeks ago actor Mel Gibson made headlines after his wife of 28 years filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.  Last night Mel hit the red carpet at the screening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine with his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

Witnesses at the event said that the pair came in quietly and tried the keep under the radar, adding that Mel looked very comfortable holding hands with Russian singer Oksana.

Mel’s rep told People magazine, “Mel has been single for almost three years and it’s nice to see him getting out and enjoying himself.”  We’ll interject that in the eyes of the law, not quite single, but separated.

Gibson received a special invitation to the screening from Hugh Jackman, who says that Mel has been his inspiration for the role because of his character in the Mad Max series.
