Actor Sean Penn has reportedly filed for legal separation from his wife, actress Robin Wright Penn.  Extra is reporting that the court papers were filed on Friday, April 24 in Marin County, citing a press statement released by the couple.

They were married in April 1996 and have two children, a daughter Dylan Frances Penn, 18, and a son Hopper Jack Penn, 15.  They couple filed for divorce in December 2007 but reconciled a year ago in April 2008.

The two time Academy Award winner for Mystic River and Milk is slated to star in a remake of The Three Stooges along with co-stars Benicio Del Toro and funnyman Jim Carrey. Robin’s latest film State of Play with co-stars Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe is in theaters now.
