21-year-old porn star Sasha Grey has landed a plum role in Steven Soderbergh’s new film “The Girlfriend Experience,” which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival on Tuesday.

Grey, who has starred in over 150 porn films since the start of her career at age 18, plays a $2000-an-hour call girl  trying to juggle a boyfriend with the demands of her career.  Hmmm, typecast much?

Sodebergh says he became interested in Grey after reading an article about her in Los Angeles Magazine, and is counting on the publicity surrounding her casting to help promote the film.

“This girl has a huge following. Most of whatever discussion that’s going on is totally based on her.  She’s kind of a new breed.  There hasn’t been anyone exactly like her in that business yet. She’s not the normal adult film star.”
