Ida Ljungqvist was named Playboy Playmate of the Year 2009 at a ceremony held at The Palms Resort & Casino in Las Vegas Saturday night.

African-born Ljungqvist was Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in March 2008, and becomes the 50th woman to hold the Playmate of the Year title.

Ljungqvist was born in Tanzania to a Swedish father and a Tanzanian mother. She speaks English, Swedish, and Swahili.

The newly minted Playmate of the Year has earned a degree in fashion design and marketing, and plans to study economics.

In December 2007 Ljungqvist married Joshua Lang. Lang filed for divorce in September 2008.  In November 2008 MSNBC reported there was a custody struggle between the two of them over their pet chihuahua, Bonnie.

This is the first time the Playboy Playmate of the Year luncheon and ceremony was not held at the Playboy Mansion.
