Last week, former Dancing With the Stars contestant Denise Richards was given the honor of singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame at Wriggly Park in Chicago to kick off the Cubs and Marlins game.

Needless to say, it didn’t go over as planned and what Denise thought would be great fun ultimately came with much criticism.  Some fans called it the worst version ever and said she was awful.

Why would Denise put herself under that kind of scrutiny?  Richards had a booth set up at the Friday night game to promote kidney cancer awareness and in return the Cub’s official asked her to perform for the crowd.

Trying to save face, Richards said she knows she doesn’t have a great voice, but it was for a good cause.  Getting out there took everything she had and the actress feels bad that it had to turn so negative.
