Kate Gosselin’s Brother Speaks: Uncle Kevin & Aunt Jodi’s Candid Interview (VIDEO)

Kevin Kreider, 32, and his wife Jodi Kreider are Kate Gosselin‘s brother and sister-in-law. They are known to many because they were often featured on the TLC reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, and referred to on camera as Uncle Kevin and Aunt Jodi.
The couple used to host the kids at their home when Jon Gosselin and his wife were out of town. Jodi and her daughter also traveled with the family when they ventured to Utah, Florida, New York and Chicago.
Rumors have been circulating that Kate is now estranged from her brother and his wife because she would not accept their criticism about some of the things that have been occurring in their lives.
Kevin and Jodi spoke to radaronline.com and have provided a very candid view of what things are really like within the Gosselin household. Their reluctant testimony paints a picture of a deteriorating relationship that Kevin suggests has turned the Gosselin family home into a dysfunctional living situation for the children.
Kevin said that Jon visited them six months ago and said that he suspected his wife was having an affair with Steve Neild - photos here. He also said that the marriage was over.
Jodi had a hard time verbalizing what is going on, and it is quite obvious that it pains this couple greatly to be involved in this interview. She did say, “The show is not reality and hasn’t been for a long time. This is a train wreck.”
It didn’t take TLC long to issue a statement of their own, refuting these statements by Kevin and Jodi.
Kevin admits that he has talked to the crew that films the Gosselin’s reality show, and they are finding it increasingly difficult to get 15 minutes of usable video from eight hours of filming because of the constant bickering that is “too real and strained”, by TLC standards. The couple sat down for a new candid conversation with CBS co-anchor Harry Smith on The Early Show today. The segment revealed that the Kreider’s believe the Gosselin children are being exploited and they claim that Jon and Kate have turned a blind eye.
According to Jodi, “They’re being exploited and it’s time for America to see the situation for what it really is, which is unfortunately, there are no laws protecting children in reality TV shows. And it’s time for the public to be aware of this.”
Kevin and Jodi were particularly troubled by the television cameras having access to the children’s bedrooms. They believe that it is dangerous on several levels. They are adamant that everything that the family does is organized by production companies and intended for ratings. Kevin is certain that the children will come to see that all of their childhood memories were manufactured for television.
The couple fears that their nephews and nieces are going to suffer serious life consequences based on the way that their parents are using them for significant financial gain. Check out the video interview below.

How sad are Kevin and Jodi. This show is not all about Jon and Kate, there are 8 small innocent children involved. When Kevin and Jodi, run their BIG mouths out of jelousy they hurt the children. If they cared as much as they put on then they would keep quiet.
I think its messed up how people want to talk about Jon & Kate’s personal life. I love the show and Im sure plenty of people do too. So why cause or spead rumors?? I understand that there is money involved through taploies but we have to remember that this world isnt perfect and there are 8 innocent children involved to this family. i feel that it is already difficult enought for them to live their life with 8 children and in the eye of the public. I especially feel that it is uncalled for Uncle Kevin and his wife Jodi went public with their opinion. Also how Kevin as the nerve to advise Jon & Kate not to let fame and fortune ruin their family. but already him and his wife dishonored that the minute they accepted to get involed and do this interview. They are family too, there wasnt a need to go public.. i think he was able to give that advise without going on TV. And for Jodi, She looked like the biggest Hyporite. The next time you feel the need to say something dont say it under you breathe you werent even women enough to face the camera, when you stated Kate is also a cheater. Oh but maybe you felt guilty for something you’ve done?? It was completely wrong! Overall I dont beleive that Jon is at fault but i dont ever put a man passed it.. It also goes for Kate. I truly hope it all goes well for the both of them!!
I believe Kevin and Jodi truely love the whole family. I think they kept quiet for a long time. They didn’t start all this the other camp did.
I feel sorry for J&K’s children.
They have no one but themselves. They have been cut off from everyone who cared about them. If this marriage does end what is going to happen to these babies?
I will admit I watch Jon and Kate +8. I love watching the children, they have grown up before me eyes. When is the last time you have seen them playing with other children? Have you noticed no one ever comes over to play with them? I have grown children I don’t remember a time when they were growing up that they didn’t play with neighbors, friends or cousins. Children need to be around other children and adults (not a photo crew), how are these children going to learn socialization skills?
We have to remember that the most important thing in this situation now is the children. Whether or not John and Kate cheated, which I hope they didn’t doesn’t matter now. Can you imagine what those eight kids must be thinking? Or hearing from kids at school. I am deeply saddened by how much America wants this family to split up. Yes it’s hard to work through marital problems, but divorce is always the easy way out for most. A good marraige takes work, and a divorce would tear that family apart. As for her brother and sister in law they had no business giving that interview. They may think they’re helping, but those kids are going to see the interview eventually somewhere. Then what? How are they going to explain that to the older girls? And there own kids? I hope John and Kate get some help before they give up on there family.
i will watch the shows new season only to watch the kids they are the cutest kids! and i love to see them grow up in front of the cameras but not for there parents… they have turned into money grubbing people (there not parents) esp kate she has always rubbed me the wrong way since the beginning, have you ever noticed that on rides or in the car or at the stores none of the kids want to set next to kate or ride with kate i mean that one day poor little maddie was bawling her eyes out because she didn’t want to set next to her mother!!! i mean that speaks volumes!!! i think she is the worst mother around! i think everyone involved is just in it for the money except those poor precious little kids there the ones that are losing.
I think it’s really sad everyone is falling into Kevin and Jodi’s trap! It’s crazy. America needs to grow up, stop believing everything they hear. It’s obvious Kevin and Jodi are jealous… and may need to make some money of their own, this is their way: trying to split up a family. How in anyway are they helping the children or thinking about what’s in the childrens best interest??? Bashing the kids mom and dad across America on national tv will no in anyway her the children.
Aunt Jody’s motives are clearly tainted with sin and not at all good. There are a million ways to try to ‘get through’ to her ‘beloved’ sister-in-law Kate. Selling a story to Star, a tabloid known for it’s lack of integrity even for secular standards is simply not what a loving godly sister would do. I can understand on a human level why Kevin and Jody would be offended and jealous that they won’t see any part of the money that Kate allegedly blocked the contract to. But, Jody’s is spreading rumors(not fact with proof) and slandering character in public in a manner considered dirty even in politics!
I think they should have kept their mouths shut. How can you say that John and Kate are all about the fame when you yourselves are talking to the tabloids. What kind of family does that?
It is very sad that Kevin and Jodi decided to join the tabloids to continue to rip apart Jon, Kate and their 8 children. If you truly are concerned about your family and the children you do not go to the tabloids and continue to smear the mother of your nieces and nephews. It seems that Kevin and Jodi also want a piece of the action. Everyone is so quick to judge Kate and I have heard many people say that she pimps out her children. To those people I would like to say – GET OFF OF YOUR SOAP BOX- Most of us don’t have 8 children and if you do and a show was thrown your way you’d probably take it too. The truth is if cameras followed each of us on a daily basis I’m sure it would capture a whole lotta ugly. Put the accusing fingers down and pray that this family can get back on track and if you truly hate the show then do yourself a favor and change the channel. All my best to Jon and Kate and shame on Jodi and Kevin.
TLC needs to cancel this show, for the sake of those kids. Its all about the all mighty dollar and it seems like the mother fell into that trap.
It is quiet upsetting to know how your own family could make such big opinions about unbelivable relationships. What I don’t understand is why these people areso desperate to add on to there stress and they seem to make everything more emotional for John and Kate and there older children, I mean do you want these girls in therapy I can’t imagine how hard it must be to only here bad things about your parents. I am very hopeful that they would think about there children future I mean I don’t think these two can seperate there children seeing as there so close. What I think is sad is people here saying repeatedly there are 8 innocent children involved, and their OWN MOTHER doesn’t realize that!!!!!! Kate is a terror, control freak, fixated on the money and has been putting her children’s welfare and well being 2nd to it all. It’s NOT Kevin or Jodi who decided to alienate Kate or the family – it was Kate and her ever growing greed for the $ that did that. She’s cut off contact w/her WHOLE FAMILY!!! Kevin and esp Jodi, are good hearted human beings who finally decided to speak out about the train wreck that has been going on in Kate’s life and the children’s… esp with the media coverage about John’s supposed cheating: it’s not cheating if you have a “contract” saying you can have a girlfriend, etc, or when he’s sleeping in the apt above the garage. But of course, Kate wants to milk the tabloids even for EVERYTHING it’s worth and continue on w/the show. Despite the effect it has on HER OWN CHILDREN. That’s what is sick.
Everyone has there problems. and some fall off the table at one time or other.
I have been noticing a change in both of them. I hope they get their act together, not for just their sake but for the kids.I can only emigine the stress of raising 8 kids at one time.
If it’s help they need to get their lives back together , then by all means, do it.

that is their personal business and the show is about the kids and not the “relationship” between the parents. they are and always will be a family and what they do outside of the the show is NOT our business. yes cheating is wrong but so is what the paparatzzi is doing to them:]

I think that you can tell”kate” is a bad”Mother” she does not put her kids first, She may say she does,But How? she does this show to make a buck,They could have stayed in the house they were,living in. But she moved because she wanted that big house, with all the snobby Rich people,Jodi and Kevin oh well they did what they thought was best,You could tell that Jodi loved those kids she would take care of them,Do Crafts with them,You never saw kate do those things maybe sometimes. Like in the first season you saw a kate that was a caring Mother, Now she is all about her self, with tans and big earrings and named brand clothing,That she only has because of those kids, she should be saving that money and working they both should, Alot of people have kids and they do that. WORK IS A MUST, not sitting and collecting money because you have eight kids, and taking there money and not saving it for them. Also Whats going to happen to the big house and all those things when the show is over? They will blow threw there money like nothing. And the kids will have nothing to show for it later. Kate is a cold hearted person, who does not talk to her parents, Because when the kids were born she would not except hand me downs she only wanted money. Any Mother who was poor would take anything they were given. I am a Young Mother of three five four and two and hand me downs i do not pass away. but nope kate is to good for that even when she had no money.

This is terrible! John, Kate, Kevin and JOdi should be ashamed of themselfs. They all say how much they love the kids but thier actions are showing different. All of them had the nerve to go public and talk about this! Think of how Mady and Cara are at school, don’t you think they get teased?! They’re old nough to understand what is going on and this probably hurts them alot more than John and Kate because they’re children! I understand it’s JOhn and Kate’s choice wether they go public or not, but at least think of the 8 INNOCENT children you are putting at risk for hurt here.
although kevin and jodi’s intentions may not have been entirely good, i’d have to disagree with most people on here and say that it sounds like they are concerned about those kids. if they actually wanted fame, it would seem easier to remain nice to kate and be on the show itself. if you’re going to be upset, be upset at kate and jon. clearly they are on the show so they can support those kids. if you think they can afford all those nice things and trips because of their job, you’re an idiot. they’re paid for by the show or from companies who want to be seen on their show. and the fact that kate pretends that she misses her kids when she’s on her book tour is a total sham. “oh i wrote that book so my kids could read it in the future and i didn’t know that it would be such a success” total BS. the only reason you write a book and get it published is to make money. otherwise you would just write it and only make a copy for your kids. just another way for her to get more money and tlc to get more people to watch the show. i bet they were doing all the publicity for it anyway. and no one cares about their stupid affairs, real or not. if someone is stupid enough to cheat with such a mean woman as kate, i say let them and maybe she’d be a decent human being to jon. and if jon is cheating on kate, maybe that means he got his balls back, and good for him. and maybe he’d actually stand up for himself since all she ever does is bitch at him and yell.
I don’t really know how I would handle trying to raise 6 children the same age, and I feel that Jon and Kate felt they were fortunate to have been offered the chance they were given to help them through the early years. I get irritated at Kate because of how she snaps at Jon, and I think that he snapped under the pressure. He looks awful, and seems very depressed, I used to like Kate’s sister-in-law until today, and I think that she is holding such a grudge because Kate would NOT approve her receiving money from TLC (which is why they parted ways in the first place,,,) I don’t like people who kick others when they are down. I think that as the children grow older, TLC could give the kids more privacy…I think that is important, but those kids are happy kids….I think as they grow older they will realize just how special they are and appreciate the fact that this made their life a lot easier than it might have been otherwise….Jon and Kate need lots of prayer….and they will get mine. It is sad that the brother of Kate Gosselin has decided to speak out with his wife. If they have truly felt the way they said they do, why don’t they try to get the laws changed instead of speaking out to the media that continues to perpetuate the papparazzi that is currently chasing their nieces and nephews. Family stuff should stay family…..basically they’re coming out & saying that their sister is a bad mother. Guaranteed that I don’t think anyone would have thought that the show would be as popular as it has. I don’t believe everything is totally staged…some of the trips of course have been sponsored, but these are also things that the family wouldn’t have experienced had Jon & Kate had not agreed to do this show. Plus Jodi has benefited from the show when it comes to trips as well. I definitely wish Jon & Kate luck…they really do need it. It’s hard when family turns on you, especially so publically & say it is because they care.

Kevin and Jodi are HYPOCRITES. They are getting PAID to speak to the tabloids and various other media outlets, as well as trying to sell their side of the story for $30,000. Yep, $30,000… They are willing to sell out their own family and exploit the situation for cash. They couldn’t care less about the Gosselin children. And apparently, they didn’t mind the show when THEY were on it. Back then, they never mentioned “exploitation”. Funny how they’ve changed their minds so quickly now that they’re no longer on the show. It’s all a money scam and hopefully people can see through their act. They should be ashamed of themselves.

First of all, I agree with anyone who knows that Kevin and Jodi aren’t the bad guys here. Kate is a gold digging, money hungry biotch. Anyone who sits on their fat ass and uses their own children to make money for them is a sorry piece of scum. I watch this show and just want to punch that skank upside her lopsided face. She treats Jon like a dog and her personal servant. Mady is already acting just like her mom. These kids are alone in all of this thanks to their “Queen” of a mother. If she didn’t have a set of twins and sextuplets, she’d still be in her “not good enough for Kate” home, clipping coupons and actually staying home with the kids. I think the show should stop until the kids are old enough to make the decision themselves. Let’s face it, it is all about them anyways. The next thing you know, if this continues, is the kids will hate their parents, if not already. They will be addicted to drugs and partying day and night. That’s all you ever hear about child stars. Jon and Kate–I do not pretend to know what is going on, but my prayers are with you all. You have a wonderful family, but I am sure your lives are very stressful. God bless you all. May the Lord watch over you during these challenging times.
I feel bad for even watching this. While all the “good-hearted people” are criticizing the tabloids, they’re still watching them and listening to them and caring enough to respond… and here i am doing the exact same thing. I was wincing when i watched this. To think that Jodi and Kevin even bothered to go on a news show instead of just helping the family or something.. this world is so caught up in money and media. Saying that their family is based on ratings alone is down right disloyal and just plain cruel. Nobody has any idea what they would do in this situation. We all just want to know, read, rate and have an opinion on things concerning other people’s lives that most the time isn’t even true. What this particular family needs right now is for people to put down their cameras and their wallets and have a heart. This really is just sick.
yea please. anyone who says they’re praying for them has to wake up. she took fertility pills. is anyone surprised she had 6 kids? no. any doctor would have advised her to have those kids. and even past all the selfish taking money from tlc and writing a book that was “for her kids”, people seem to forget that those kids are going to grow up and have a lot of health issues. they already do. all because she didn’t want to wait and conceive naturally. feel bad that she can’t take care of those kids that she made herself have? i sure don’t feel sorry for her. she’s hardly any better than that other lady who recently had all of those kids. and if you don’t think she isn’t doing it for the fame and money, then you’re an idiot.
Even though Kate was a picky woman from the very start, at least it wasn’t that bad in the first, say, two seasons. The show was more bearable back then than it is now, by a long shot. The two did not argue as much, and I found the children more lovable back then. Maybe that’s purely just because of their age– since by three, children develop attitudes (IE: Mady).
I now watch the show merely because of..well, why everyone else does! To see what’s going on, even though absolutely nothing is being divulged.
Kate has become a bigger shrew than she originally was. Honestly, I am on Jon’s side…because, if it turns out he did cheat, I wouldn’t blame him for it. She has no respect for her husband, and she nags him over the littlest things. Hell- Kate does NOT need a bodyguard! How arrogant is she? I’m sure there are a handful of people who would like to throw a melon at her head, but…talk about egotistical. Not to top that, she may actually have a affair with the man, too!
I don’t think what the Kreiders are doing are completely sleazy. When I first saw a brief glimpse of the interview on E!’s special, I was perplexed to see them talking to the public but last time I can recall, Jodie was very kind to the children. And for those who are saying ‘why the hell didn’t they talk about it with Kate and Jon themselves isntead of going on air?’, they probably did! of course- not on the show, and if they did, it was most likely taken out for convenience.
Anyone that would begin to think that Kate is a “bad mother” should be in her shoes for a few days and see if you can keep up. She is bossy for a reason and although a bit too much so, she has her hands full with 6 kids all the same age and twins (one with a huge attitude problem)…I really can’t fathom doing what she does and keeping everything as organized (which is what you must be to have all those kids) as she does. As she has stated countless times on the show, she is thankful for all the help she gets from the people in their lives that help on a regular basis…like Jodi and Kevin used to. I assumed that the reason that Kevin and Jodi were not in season 4 or 5 was because they ( the Gosselin’s) moved to the country …making it harder to see them, plus with all the hired help they have now and Jon being there for the kids, there really wasn’t much time to see Jodi and Kevin anymore.
I think that Jodi and Kevin need to back off the exploitation thing since there are so many reality shows with kids ….like the Dugger’s with 18 kids (if that’s not exploiting kids I don’t know what is!) and what about the Little people and table for 12…..give me a break!
Maybe Jodi and Kevin should lobby for changes in the laws to protect kids rather than do an interview for $30,000. and stab a family member in the back ….the kids may not remember that but I’m sure when they find out, they will be hurt and crushed that their beloved Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin would do that to their parents.
I’ve watched the Jon & Kate show from the beginning and if I were in their situation, I would’ve done the same thing as far as the money goes ….with the sextuplets having some health issues and then there’s college to save for …you bet I would ….take all the cash you can get for the kids. They have both stated several times that they do it all for the kids and I know I would too. So if Kate gets a tummy tuck and Jon gets Hair implants …those are the perks of being on a show that is watched by many ….the beauty of television is that if you can’t stand to watch them exploit their children …you can change the channel.
I think that media has gotten to both Jon and Kates heads. I think too many people told jon that Kate is too bossy. Which she can be, I am too. I don’t even have one kid yet. She has eight, so I think she has the right to. Anyone who has 8 little ones running around are the only ones who have room to speak on that. They are both good people deep down and their kids are adorable. I’ve been a fan since the first season. I think its sad and sick that they have more viewers tune in when the family is falling apart and more media attention. It’s like the movie untraceable where the more viewers that tune in the closer to death for the victim. Its sad! I’ve never met a perfect family. I hope the best for them.
The kids are being exploited!!!!! What better place to get the word out about the poor kids being exploited than on television. Kevin and Jodi are the voice for the kids because they don’t have one. They are so young and innocent. Sure they are cute and fun to watch, but those kids will pay for all of this later on in their lives – probably spending their entire earnings on therapy. $$$$ has clouted Jon & Kate’s better judgement and that is taking precedence instead of being a parent and protecting the future of their kids.
