Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston Break Up: Nick Jonas Responsible?

Miley Cyrus, 16, and Justin Gaston, 20, have split, and there is speculation that Nick Jonas may be behind the break up.

After somber updates on Twitter by both Miley and Justin, a source close to the couple confirmed the break up to E! News.

“She obviously has been hanging out with Nick again a lot, and Justin was cool with it at first, as long as it was just a cool, friendly thing,” says an insider. “She didn’t cheat, but I guess Nick was trying to get her back the whole time.”

“Tears are words the heart can’t express,” read one of Miley’s Twitter posts. “why does saying good-bye hurt so much?” said another.

Justin also Twittered his pain. “How many tears are in there? They’ve gotta run out soon right?” he posted.

There has been no reason given for the split, however, the Twitter posts may hold a clue as to what happened.

“I’m in a dark theater ‘writing’ a song with nick j who is rockin a faded eggplant shirt! ” Miley Tweeted on Saturday.

Hmmm, interesting that she put quotes around ‘writing.’ So what was she really doing in that dark theater? The post has since been removed. Another clue, perhaps?

“At least I know where you stand,” Gaston posts, and later writes, “Building walls.”

“life will go on. you will smile again…we will smile again,” Miley wrote yesterday afternoon, following it up with “what a beautiful mess I am in,” last night.

Could the “beautiful mess” have something to do with a certain ex?

Miley and Jonas have been recording music and spending a lot of time together, and according to sources the resurrected friendship was Justin’s Achilles’ heel.

Miley ended the relationship before leaving on Sunday for Savannah to film her new movie, “The Last Song.”
