Police secured the area around the Farrow Gallery and Studio in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Castleton, Vermont. According to authorities, they found a man dead at the studio gallery after responding to a 911 call placed at 11:30 p.m. on Monday night, June 15, by the victim's artist wife Susan Farrow.
The deceased, age 66, has been identified as well known sculptor Patrick Farrow, brother of actress Mia Farrow. He and his wife reportedly owned, operated and lived in the building, a converted church in the historic village with mountain views.
Farrow, the son of celebrity parents Australian film director John Farrow and Irish actress Maureen O'Sullivan, lived in Hollywood and Europe before heading to Vermont to hone his craft over 30 years ago.
According to Lt. Timothy Oliver, the Vermont State Police were call in to help investigate what has been described as a suspicious death scene, and have been focusing their investigation on the rear of the building. They have questioned neighbors regarding what they may have heard or seen late Monday night.
Patrick Farrow's body has been sent to the Office of the Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. On Wednesday, June 17, the ME ruled the death a suicide by a single gun shot to the head. Other evidence at the scene supports the finding that will appear on the death certificate.
The scultor's mission statement, from his gallery website: "My art is a result of the total of my life so far. Profound and mundane, real and imagined, animate and inanimate, a bit of this and bit of that, whatever pleases the artist."
