Twilight actor Robert Pattinson was filming Remember Me on the streets of Manhattan earlier today when he was mobbed by a pack of screaming fans.  In desperation, he was hustled across the street in front of the Strand Bookstore by his security detail and was clipped on the hip by a passing taxicab.

Flanked by a large contingent of bodyguards, one of them quickly determined that the injury to Pattinson’s hip wasn’t serious and then turned to a group of screaming girls and said, “You see what you did, you almost killed him.”

The British actor was clearly overwhelmed by the swarm of teenagers, as evidenced by the photos and video below.  Later in the day, Pattinson pulled himself together and filmed a steamy love scene with co-star Emilie de Ravin in the sand dunes of a local beach.
