Cam Sinclair Moto Double Backflip VIDEO
Metal Mulisha athlete Cam Sinclair has become the first rider ever to land a double backflip during a competitive motocross freestyle run. The amazing feat took place last weekend at a Red Bull X-Fighters event in Texas.
The move had only been pulled off by riders like Travis Pastrana in Big Trick competitions but never before in freestyle competition–where riders perform multiple moves on a timed run.
Sinclair pulled the move in consecutive rounds, impressing the fans from Texas. The sport is risky business, as evidenced by the horrific crash in February that claimed the life of Jeremy Lusk, one of the sport’s favorite competitors who died in Costa Rica while attempting a single backflip – see that video here.
Sinclair suffered bruised ankles after the hard landing—a small price to pay for the death defying trick. Check out the video below.
UPDATE: July 19, 2009 - Cam Sinclair was critically injured in Madrid after attempting to execute a double backflip. The trick was under rotated, which caused him to miss the landing and hit the ramp as he descended.
Sinclair was rushed to a hospital where he was placed into an induced coma and underwent surgery to repair a lacerated liver, that had caused severe internal bleeding. He also suffered a broken shoulder and bruised brain.
View the crash video below the footage of his recent successful jump.
