Drew Barrymore is making her directorial debut in a new film Whip It.  According to USA Today, the roller derby comedy tells the story of a Texas teen who is quite literally “hell on wheels”.

The film stars Ellen Page as an indie rock loving misfit who finds a way to deal with her small town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in Austin.  In the photo above, the rowdy roller girls are dressed in modified girl scout uniforms and call themselves the Hurl Scouts.

Other notables in the project lineup include Marcia Gay Harden, Kristin Wiig, Juliette Lewis, Jimmy Fallon and Daniel Stern.
