Michael Jackson’s hair on fire

Never-before-seen footage of the Pepsi commercial accident where Michael Jackson’s hair caught on fire can be seen in the video below.

The video, uncovered by US Weekly, shows the first take where the pyrotechnics exploded as planned, and shows the sixth take, where things went horribly wrong.

The commercial was filmed on January 27, 1984, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.  The fireworks were supposed to explode after Jackson descended the stairs.  On the sixth take, the fireworks erupted too early, catching his hair on fire.

Unaware that he is on fire, Jackson continues performing.

Suffering from second and third-degree burns on his scalp and face which required multiple surgeries, Jackson was prescribed several medications.

Multiple sources believe the accident was the catalyst for Michael’s addiction to painkillers and his obsession with plastic surgery.
