Cheyenne Cherry Gets One Year for Killing Kitten in Oven

New York teen Cheyenne Cherry pleaded guilty to putting her former roommate’s kitten into a 500-degree oven and walking out because she didn’t want to hear the dying kitten’s cries or desperate scratching on the oven door.

Cherry, 17, who told police that killing the kitten was “just a joke” after her arrest, showed no remorse after a plea bargain that will put her behind bars for a year.  “It’s dead b*tch!” she said grinning and sticking out her tongue as she walked out of the courtroom past animal rights activists.

Cherry and a 14-year-old friend trashed the apartment of Valerie Hernandez on May 6, stuffing her kitten, Tiger Lily, into the blistering oven to roast to death.

On Wednesday, Cherry told the judge the younger girl put the cat in the oven and “I didn’t let the cat out.”  She was granted a plea deal because the younger girl is the one who put the cat in the oven.

Cherry will serve one year in jail and will not be able to keep a pet for three years.

The younger girl faces trial in Family Court because of her age.

    Someone needs to get this girl fixed so she can’t have kids or she will have a more serious death on her hands. Now shut up all the people yapping about killing a kitten is nothing like killing a child….but someone who can so brutality kill something so harmless and small with out any kind of remorse and as a joke, Could very well in my opinion kill a child. That is MY OPINION You don’t have to like it, it is mine.

    That is a RIDICULOUS charge for such a stupid insignificant crime.

    The law is really **** up sometimes I swear.

    I think it’s actually racism that she was sentenced for such a RIDICULOUS amount of time.

    Amy this is a news site so you are going to somtimes find sick stories like this. What are we supposed to do? Ignore the bad so you don’t hear something sad? The truth sucks at times but it is still the truth. In fact I once really liked someone who did something similar. I didn’t like hearing about that either but I knew it was the truth and I wasn’t going to like to lie to myself about if. If you want strictly celebrity gossip find another site!

    This is a direct result of overpopulation…. when teeming masses of people are crowded into cities with scant resources, the conditions breed rats, cockroaches, and functionally illiterate trash like this alleged human. She should have her skin peeled off and be thrown in a shark tank.

    It is very sad, but understandable, that animals are only afforded the status of property in this country. As such, although there are probably “animal cruelty” statutes under which she was also prosecuted, the worst she can be accused of is destruction of property. I think the killing of Sean Bell is sad as well, but it is a completely different scenario, involving a lot of variables: the truth there will never completely be known. However, this was a KITTEN. If you can look at that face and shove it in the oven and kill it, you are evil – no question. Note, most serial killers have tortured and killed small animals in their youth before turning their sadistic nature towards humans. Keep scanning the headlines for this girl’s name in the future.

    I love all the outrage! It’s funny that there wasn’t all this outrage when Sean Bell (a human being) was murdered. I believe his murderers didn’t even have to do any time.

    The measure of a nation is how they treat their animals. If a year in jail for torturing and killing a helpless animal seems appropriate then we have lost our heart and soul in this country. And how can someone like the girl EVER be allowed to own an animal? Is anyone alive in the judicial system???

    I have no problem understanding a human life is far more sacred than that of an animal BUT I actually wouldn’t have a problem if someone stuffed this bitch in an oven and slowly raised the temperature to about 500 F. That would be a YouTube for the ages…

    How could this girl ever EVER be allowed to have an animal as a pet? She is an animal. One year is too short of a sentence for someone who could walk out when a defenseless animal was suffering. It turns my stomach. I hope she gets a taste of her own horror while she’s in jail or when she gets out.
