Amy Winehouse Acquitted of Assault Charge (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Amy Winehouse looks determined on Day 2 of her trial

Amy Winehouse was acquitted of assault charges after a two-day trial at the City of Westminster Magistrates Court in London.  The singer was accused of striking a fan in September 2008 at the Prince’s Trust Ball in Berkeley Square.

Sherene Flash told the court that Winehouse punched her above the right eye while she was standing in line backstage trying to get the singer to autograph a photograph.  Flash told the court that the incident left her “shocked and crying.”

Winehouse related a different story to the judge.  According to her testimony, she merely pushed the fan away because she was scared.  Her lawyer, Patrick Gibbs said, “the main injury was probably to Miss Flash’s pride.”

The judge said, “Having heard the evidence from all the witnesses, I cannot be sure that this was not an accident.  The charge is dismissed and the defendant discharged.”

Upon exiting the court, Winehouse said, “I’m relieved.  I’m going home.”

  1. Wow, she looks uncharactaristically hot in those pics. Too bad she didn’t look that good in all those topless shots.
