george sodini shooter in pennsylvania

Four people were killed after gunman George Sodini, 48, opened fire at the Bridgeville LA Fitness workout center in a Pittsburgh suburb before killing himself.  According to police, he walked into the facility with several guns hidden in a gym bag at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

Sodini, a member of the gym, entered an aerobics class where 20 female members were working out.  He reportedly doused the lights and fired 50 rounds into the crowded room.  Four people were killed and 12 were taken to various hospitals with gunshot wounds.

A note was found in the deceased shooters gym bag.  Police have not released the contents.  Unsubstantiated rumors indicate that Sodini was interested in a woman who attended the aerobics class, though it is unclear whether she was even aware of his 'fatal attraction'.

A George Sodini blog link revealed that he kept an online diary, which has since been taken down by authorities.  He entered the following information, including his date of death:  5-10, 155 lbs, never married, DOD 8/4/2009 and this comment, "Planned to do this in the summer but figure to stick around to see the election outcome.  This particular one got so much attention and I was just curious."

A representative for LA Fitness, Simon R. Barker, issued the following statement: "Each of us in the LA Fitness family are shocked and saddened by the senseless acts of violence that took place at the Bridgeville area club this evening.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and friends.  We are working with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation."

No wonder why he didn't ever get a date. LOOK at his mustachio, eww! :P Feel bad for the victims, just trying to make light of the situation ;)

I stumbled upon your blog by accident. Pretty informative post.

This guy knew he had problems, knew he needed help, and didn't seek it. So yes, you can blame him. If anyone out there really feels like they're in George Sodini's shoes, I implore you to read what Dan Savage wrote about the matter:

Sex is an important thing in our human lives. It is important on a spiritual level.
Sex has been distorted in a way in popular culture that it has taken on more of a deviant nature, and it's importance has gotten skewed.

to "zapzap" and anyone else who thinks that the shooter "can't be blamed", you are SICK. I went to school with about ten people who were in the gym at the time of the shooting and know close to twenty members. A girl I know was seriously injured. If you were in my shoes, would you still think that it's acceptable for young girls to be traumatized, injured, or killed because some sicko couldn't get himself laid? If it was a close friend or family of yours, would you be so accepting of this? We don't all get what we want, and we don't all have it easy in life. That is no excuse to ruin the lives of others. It disgusts me that some people can show any sort of support for such COWARDLY and PATHETIC actions.

He hasnt got sex for such a long time and everybody can be mentally disturbed. He should have gone to sex tour and enjoy life but nobody told him so.
If he should not done it, he will not died.

The man killed innocent people, and I don't think it's inappropriate to blame him. Duh. His blog is back up, it seems. I think it's going down intermittently from overuse, of course.

TEACHING THE VALUES OF PEACE By: Mike (Ali) Raccoon Eyes Kinney As a Cherokee Native American Activist and a former member of the Richmond California Violence Prevention Movement, I have seen close to 515 homicides in the City of Richmond from 2001 to the present. The declaration of a 'war on violence' by the Richmond city government was not the panacea, instead it failed miserably. I have often stated in town hall meetings and on television, the best way to win the 'war on violence' in Richmond is to 'TEACH THE VALUES OF PEACE'. In the killing fields of Richmond, most of the victims of homicides are youth or young adults. Teaching the values of peace begins with our youth and young adults. From a Native perspective, winning the war on violence begins in the home with a strong, spiritual belief and value system. We believe that Creator made all generations, past, present and those of the future, holy people. This is what our Elders teach us from the time we are born. Our families and Elders teach our young people that they must tear away the images and stereotypes that mainstream society has placed upon them as Native peoples. Violence and killing is not traditional in Native culture, it is a learned behavior from mainstream society. We teach our youths not to attack, punish or beat themselves up for crimes that they have never committed in regards to racism. Our Elders and families teach our young people to have good self-esteem, self-worth and self-value, for as the original holy people this was Creators plan. Native people know that it is both family and community responsibility to teach the values of peace to our young people. We teach our young people honesty and accountability concerning violence. It begins with accepting responsibility for self and acknowledging any past use of violence. Admitting any wrongdoing, communicating openly and truthfully to renounce the use of violence in the future places our youth on the right path. We place a heavy emphasis that all life is sacred. The final lesson in teaching the values of peace is quite simple. It is helping young people understand their relationship to others and all things in Creation. Be responsible for your role, act with compassion and respect, and remember ALL LIFE IS SACRED. Native culture is prevention! Mike (Ali) Raccoon Eyes Kinney
